Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Today my teaser is from The Springsweet by Saundra Mitchell. I just read The Vespertine yesterday; which I loved so much. And I just needed to read The Springsweet right away. And I'm so glad I did. This book is amazing! You can read my review here. Posting a few teasers I loved :) Spoilers, though!
What are you reading?
There would always be a tender part of me, unhealed from that disastrous summer. How could it be anything but, with my first love and my first best friend, and so many others, given to death in it? But my mother's words came back to me, clearer than ever, and finally I believed her - I was alive. It was no longer a curse, no matter how complicated things had become here. ~ page 218
And a second one.
Raising his eyes to mine, he said nothing. He was wrecked; he was beautiful. And he'd spoken a perfect truth: it wouldn't be the end of the world to guess and get it wrong. There was always the glorious possibility I would get it right. So I leaned over, my thumb trailing the rise of his cheek, and I kissed him. I claimed him. He was mine. ~ page 245
