Waiting on Wednesday #523

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

SKIN OF THE SEA BY NATASHA BOWEN

Goodreads Description:

An unforgettable fantasy debut inspired by West African mythology, this is Children of Blood and Bone meets The Little Mermaid, in which a mermaid takes on the gods themselves.

A way to survive.
A way to serve.
A way to save.

Simi prayed to the gods, once. Now she serves them as Mami Wata--a mermaid--collecting the souls of those who die at sea and blessing their journeys back home.

But when a living boy is thrown overboard, Simi does the unthinkable--she saves his life, going against an ancient decree. And punishment awaits those who dare to defy it.

To protect the other Mami Wata, Simi must journey to the Supreme Creator to make amends. But all is not as it seems. There's the boy she rescued, who knows more than he should. And something is shadowing Simi, something that would rather see her fail. . . .

Danger lurks at every turn, and as Simi draws closer, she must brave vengeful gods, treacherous lands, and legendary creatures. Because if she doesn't, then she risks not only the fate of all Mami Wata, but also the world as she knows it.

But Christmas is closer, haha :) We have also gotten the seasons first snow. Rude. Not sticking to the ground yet, but soon, I suppose. Two new blog posts. Ten Years of Blogging + Giveaway

Ten years of blogging today. Gosh. How is this even possible? Feels like so much less. Time is moving too fast these days :) This past year have been pretty hard for me, to be honest. I have read so, so few books. I have done almost no catching up. And yet I feel so busy all the time. Busy with family, busy with my bad health, busy playing Animal Crossing. I have so little energy these days. Yet I am happy. And I'm pleased with what I am able to do. But oh, how badly I wish I could be reading more. There are so many books I still need to read. So many books that I still buy, all the time. I'm still blogging. I am still here. Just reading less. I still love reading, of course I do. And I want to read so badly. Just cannot make myself start anything. Which completely sucks. When I do read, I love the book so much. Hope to read more shortly :)

If you are reading this, thank you so much for following me and my blog. I still fully love blogging. And I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. I do miss talking with people, though. Feel like I get so very few comments these days, and so few replies on twitter too. So many people are gone and not here anymore as well. I miss everyone. But so thankful to those of you that are still here, and that do still talk to me :) It means so very much to me. I have not been affected much by corona, thankfully. And I hope you are all doing well too, and staying as safe as possible. I hope the world will be back to normal soon, when it is safe. Are you guys reading the same? Would love to know more about you all and how you are doing. <3

Giveaway details.
I have an extra signed paperback copy of The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. So that is what I'm giving away today. It is open to everyone, everywhere. As I will be shipping it out myself. It's such a beautiful book and you are all going to love it. Photos below. Giveaway will end in four weeks.

Will be one winner.

Another week gone by, another week closer to Christmas, eee. Haha. I haven't read anything this week either. Sigh. Hopefully this coming week :) Fingers crossed that I will actually feel like reading soon. I have so many books to read. And I know I will love them a lot. I just need the energy and want to read. Hmph. This week I watched Squid Game at last. I did like it a lot, but it was not that perfect, ha. But the games were awful and I loved them. Been busy this week, and still have not done any catching up. Sigh. Soon, I hope. Plus side, wasp hive is gone and all my things are back in my attic. Hoping the queen isn't sleeping there somewhere, though. Shudders. At least she'll not be able to find food, get out of my attic or in again. Oops. Got some pretty mail this week too. My body is kind of a wreck lately, so I'm just trying to take it easy most days. Always in a bit of pain, but doing okay too :) This week I'm waiting on The School Between Winter and Fairyland. <3 I'm hoping to love it. I hope you are all doing well and staying safe :)

Beasts and Beauty: Dangerous Tales. Eee! My personalized copy has arrived. <3 And it is so precious.

But when she isn't mucking out the wyvern stalls or coaxing the resident boggart to behave, Autumn searches for clues about her twin brother's mysterious disappearance. Everyone else thinks he was devoured by the feared Hollow Dragon, but Autumn is convinced she's heard--and glimpsed--him calling to her from within the castle walls. But who will believe a lowly servant?

In My Mailbox #517

Another week gone by. Gosh. Winter is getting closer. Brrr. But that also means Christmas is coming soon too, and that I am very excited for :D I think I have bought at least half the presents I need to buy to my family. So yay for me, ha. I haven't read anything this week. Ack. But I will start one shortly, hopefully tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I did get a bunch of lovely mail this week, though, so yay for that :D But oh gods. Look at the instagram photo below that. AHHH! This week we finally took down all my things from the attic. To look for the wasps hive we knew were there somewhere, considering they had been fully bothering me for weeks. Shudders. And we found it. Oh, we found it. Sobs. And it is so horrible. Ahhh. And so HUGE. What even. It was the worst to look at, haha. So I had to share a photo of it too :) I mean, it looks good? Made great, I guess. But so awful, and I still shiver a little every time I look at it. Thankfully, the wasps are all dead by now. Just need to get rid of this hive. And find the sleeping queen and kill her too. Shudders. And close all entries to my attic. Hmph. But yeah. I hate this. I hate that the wasps made this giant hive in my attic this year. Never happened before. So rude. Anyway. This week I'm waiting on The Last Legacy :) Hope you are all doing well and staying safe. <3 I'm a bit meh these days. But okay :)

Beasts and Beauty: Dangerous Tales. Eee. Waterstones signed edition, and regular US hardcover. <3
All These Bodies. This book was so very good. Sigh. And the hardcover looks so very gorgeous, eee :D
Lost Island. Such a big fan of MarcyKate. <3 And I can't wait to read her newest stunning middle grade :)
The Last Legacy. Got signed copy last week, and regular to-be-read copy this week, haha :) Looks pretty.
