In My Mailbox #521

This week have been beyond exhausting. Gosh. Started with more medicine this Monday. Which went okay, which it usually does. But then hospital visit on Tuesday and Wednesday, to empty my stomach and do a new colonoscopy. Had been four years since the last time, so had been too long, I guess. Since I do have Morbus Crohn. But yeah. It killed me a little, those hospital days. It was awful to drink what I needed to empty my stomach, which it always has been. Shudders. But I managed it, and I feel like I did so well, haha. But it sucked to have to be so long with no food. It felt like forever. And needed to wait so so many hours both days, ugh. As I am aaalways the last on the program, the last to be put to sleep for the exam. Rude. So I just waited and waited, without eating or drinking. It so sucked. But the exam went well. And I slept through it all, as usual, thankfully. And no pain when I woke up either. So that is good. But I still feel kind of out of it. Feel so exhausted and tired. So yeah. My energy level is even worse right now. Need to wait weeks for results of the tests they took, but so far everything looks good. Just wish I would feel better too. Hmph. Stomach is better than I am. Rude, haha. Anyway. Maybe a little bit oversharing. Sorry. I like writing about my life and problems once I get started, ha :) So yeah. This week was long. And I'm so, so tired. But I'm doing okay, so hoping to feel more rested shortly too. I still have not read anything. Aw. But soooon. I'm also just waiting for the Animal Crossing update on the 5th. Oops. And waiting to be able to order the new Amiibo cards. Sigh. Been checking for hours every day so far. Ack. It's driving me nuts, lol. Only one new blog post. This week I'm waiting on Nightrender :D And I got a bunch of stunning mail this week, eee. <3 I hope you are all doing well and staying as safe as you can :) Happy early Halloween :D

Waiting on Wednesday #523

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

NIGHTRENDER BY JODI MEADOWS

Goodreads Description:

Kingdoms will fall, gods will die, and hearts will be broken in this sprawling new fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Jodi Meadows.

In the middle of nothingness is the continent of Salvation.

Reality bends easily here. Villages disappear. Forests burn forever. Pockets of inconsistent time are everywhere, their boundaries strung with yellow ribbon. And the three kingdoms of Salvation have been at war for a thousand years.

But the greatest threat is the Malice, an incursion from the demon plane slowly tearing its way through the world's weakest seams. Seams that--once split--will lead to the total unraveling of night and day, light and dark, life and death.

Not that the human world takes much interest. Of more concern is the upcoming marriage of Rune Highcrown, Prince of Caberwill, and Johanne Fortuin, Princess of Embria--the serpent bride, a girl of famous cunning--which offers a possible end to the ancient conflict. But Rune has noticed the growing darkness, and he is determined to summon mankind's only defense: Nightrender, the hammer of the gods, an immortal warrior more weapon than girl.

There is only one problem. The last time she was summoned, she slaughtered every royal in Salvation, and no one knows why. Will she save humanity from the Malice... or plunge it deeper into the fires of eternal war?

Hardcover, 368 pages
Expected publication: January 4th 2022 by Holiday House
Pre-Order: Book Depository
and Amazon #ad

I have enjoyed books by Jodi for years now, so I will of course be giving this new adult one a try :D I think it looks pretty gorgeous. And sounds very thrilling too. And I very much hope that I will love this book. <3

But when a living boy is thrown overboard, Simi does the unthinkable--she saves his life, going against an ancient decree. And punishment awaits those who dare to defy it.

To protect the other Mami Wata, Simi must journey to the Supreme Creator to make amends. But all is not as it seems. There's the boy she rescued, who knows more than he should. And something is shadowing Simi, something that would rather see her fail. . . .

Danger lurks at every turn, and as Simi draws closer, she must brave vengeful gods, treacherous lands, and legendary creatures. Because if she doesn't, then she risks not only the fate of all Mami Wata, but also the world as she knows it.

Ten Years of Blogging + Giveaway

Ten years of blogging today. Gosh. How is this even possible? Feels like so much less. Time is moving too fast these days :) This past year have been pretty hard for me, to be honest. I have read so, so few books. I have done almost no catching up. And yet I feel so busy all the time. Busy with family, busy with my bad health, busy playing Animal Crossing. I have so little energy these days. Yet I am happy. And I'm pleased with what I am able to do. But oh, how badly I wish I could be reading more. There are so many books I still need to read. So many books that I still buy, all the time. I'm still blogging. I am still here. Just reading less. I still love reading, of course I do. And I want to read so badly. Just cannot make myself start anything. Which completely sucks. When I do read, I love the book so much. Hope to read more shortly :)

If you are reading this, thank you so much for following me and my blog. I still fully love blogging. And I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. I do miss talking with people, though. Feel like I get so very few comments these days, and so few replies on twitter too. So many people are gone and not here anymore as well. I miss everyone. But so thankful to those of you that are still here, and that do still talk to me :) It means so very much to me. I have not been affected much by corona, thankfully. And I hope you are all doing well too, and staying as safe as possible. I hope the world will be back to normal soon, when it is safe. Are you guys reading the same? Would love to know more about you all and how you are doing. <3

Giveaway details.
I have an extra signed paperback copy of The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. So that is what I'm giving away today. It is open to everyone, everywhere. As I will be shipping it out myself. It's such a beautiful book and you are all going to love it. Photos below. Giveaway will end in four weeks.

Been busy this week, and still have not done any catching up. Sigh. Soon, I hope. Plus side, wasp hive is gone and all my things are back in my attic. Hoping the queen isn't sleeping there somewhere, though. Shudders. At least she'll not be able to find food, get out of my attic or in again. Oops. Got some pretty mail this week too. Another week gone by. Gosh. Winter is getting closer. Brrr. But that also means Christmas is coming soon too, and that I am very excited for :D I think I have bought at least half the presents I need to buy to my family. So yay for me, ha. I haven't read anything this week. Ack. But I will start one shortly, hopefully tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I did get a bunch of lovely mail this week, though, so yay for that :D But oh gods. Look at the instagram photo below that. AHHH! This week we finally took down all my things from the attic. To look for the wasps hive we knew were there somewhere, considering they had been fully bothering me for weeks. Shudders. And we found it. Oh, we found it. Sobs. And it is so horrible. Ahhh. And so HUGE. What even. It was the worst to look at, haha. So I had to share a photo of it too :) I mean, it looks good? Made great, I guess. But so awful, and I still shiver a little every time I look at it. Thankfully, the wasps are all dead by now. Just need to get rid of this hive. And find the sleeping queen and kill her too. Shudders. And close all entries to my attic. Hmph. But yeah. I hate this. I hate that the wasps made this giant hive in my attic this year. Never happened before. So rude. Anyway. This week I'm waiting on The Last Legacy :) Hope you are all doing well and staying safe. <3 I'm a bit meh these days. But okay :)

Beasts and Beauty: Dangerous Tales. Eee. Waterstones signed edition, and regular US hardcover. <3
