Review: The Ever Never Handbook by Soman Chainani

Eee, I am so happy about finally having been able to read this book. I simply love this world that Soman created so much. Sigh. And I'm so happy that I re-read the first three books first. Though they do always break my heart, lol. But so much love. Now I'm even more excited about book four next year. Eee. Need it badly.

Yes, this isn't really a full book at all. It is only a handbook, sort of meant for students at the school Soman created in his book. But that's okay. Because reading this handbook was all kinds of fun. I loved getting to know a bit more about what happened after book three, though I learned way too little about it all. Ack.

There is simply so much I love about this world. That I cannot even begin to talk about it all. But I shall share a little, because, gosh. I'm not sure how to write this review of mine, considering it wasn't really a book with a plot, lol. But I shall try my best. First things, though. If you have read all three The School for Good and Evil books, then you really need to read this one. It is full of amazing information about how the schools works now, after how book three ended. Which was so interesting to read about. And I simply loved reading every page. Eee. Not full of words, but still perfect. There is some really amazing artwork in this one, and I love it all so much. The covers for all the books are gorgeous. This one isn't as stunning, hah, but I still love it tons.

I'm just not sure what to share about this one. It was a fun read, but also pretty quick, and not all that much I can share about it. Hmm. But, just, there is so much amazing inside this book. Gorgeous artwork. Amazing quotes from the characters of book one. Some awesome letters from the best people. The very best invitation at the end of the book. Eee. That better be included in book four. And it better be glorious and romantic and, well, Sophie better not get to be there. Hmph. I don't want her there, sadly. Just, ugh.

Because, yeah. Agatha and Tedros are my favorite characters. Not much about them in this handbook, but a few things. And I still love them the most. Eee. And Hester and Anadil and Dot. Gosh, I wish to read about their quest so badly. I need book four. Hmph. And I do adore Hort too. He is pretty awesome. But ah. Sophie. I'm still so mad at this girl. Sad face. I doubt I can ever forgive her. Sigh. But even so, I do like reading about her. Because she is entertaining. Just not a girl for me. Not a girl for me to love. Or like, lol.

I'm not going to say much more about this one. I just can't. I wish I could say more, but there just isn't anything to share. It was so stunning. Five stars for sure. I loved getting to know some more details. I loved how the schools had changed after the ending of book three. I loved learning about what characters I adored had been up to in the months after book three. Mostly I just loved reading this one and looking at all the pictures. So much amazing. Sigh. I simply need more more more from this world and characters.

I'm so glad this book was made. Okay, yes, I wish book four had been out this summer instead of next summer, but I can wait. I'm just really happy with this book. Eee. I wish there had been so much more of Agatha and Tedros, though. Sniffs. But small peaks. And I loved that. Also, this book is all kinds of heavy. Gosh. Which I love even more. Heavy books are the best. And it is just gorgeous. Eee. You must all read this one. But yeah. After you read the trilogy. Because it do spoil pretty much the whole plot of the books.

The Evil attack. The Good defend.
The Evil punish. The Good forgive.
The Evil hurt. The Good help.
The Evil take. The Good give.
The Evil hate. The Good love.

Book Recommendation: The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani

Sigh. This book just kills me. So much. This is my second time reading it, and I still love it the most. This book is a huge favorite of mine. Because of that perfect ending. But also because of all the heartbreak. I couldn't help but love it all. Despite how it made me cry. Hmph. I just cannot help but love this book the most. It made me fall in love with Agatha even more. It made me ship her and Tedros even more. It made me dislike Sophie a bit more, lol. It is simply the most perfect fairytale story. And I love it beyond words.

I'm not even sure how I should talk about this book. It is the final book in this trilogy. Except, not really. Because the handbook just came out, which is a companion book. And next summer there will be a book four, which is a direct sequel to this one. Which I could not be happier about. Sniffs. I'm so happy. And excited. And I simply cannot wait. Eee. I just need there to be Agatha and Tedros point of view too. Ack. Fingers crossed. But anyway. This was the perfect ending, yet there is so much room for more. Always.

The plot in this third book is just all kinds of amazing. At the moment the whole school is evil. With Sophie being their queen. Which was a bit depressing, for those poor Evers who was forced to be evil. Shudders. But they were all being so awesome and strong about it and I loved it so much. I should mention Sophie a little bit now. I am pretty angry with her. I like her a little bit. But in this book. I just. She is so evil. I felt like she has always tried to ruin Agatha's happiness, and I can't help but hate her for it. I did not love Sophie.

This book still breaks my heart the most. And I'm still a bit bitter about all of that, haha. There is some serious relationship angst. But it also wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, to re-read it. It still makes me hurt so badly. But I also enjoyed reading about the angst. Because it made me love Agatha even more. She truly is the most good and kind and loving person. I wish the angst hadn't happened, but I also get why it had to. And I do think it made their relationship even better. Sigh. But also, yeah. Heartbreak.

I don't really have all that much to say about this book this time around. I just. I loved reading every moment of it. This book is long, but I wanted it to be even longer. Hmph. The ending is simply perfect. Heartbreaking. Happy. So good. Reading about these characters are the very best thing. I love Agatha and Tedros so much. And I do like reading about Sophie. And everyone else. I still adore Hester so much too. And Merlin was awesome. I just. I love The Last Ever After oh so much. My re-read was the best.

But seriously. If you still haven't read these books, then you really must. It is middle grade, yet young adult too. More the latter, I think. The characters are about fifteen years old, probably. Tedros at least is almost turning sixteen. A bit young still, yet they are all so adorable and so grown up even so. And I just love reading about them all. Sigh. Anyway. Yes. You all must read these books. Right away. I would recommend them for everyone. Because these books are the best. You are all going to love Agatha.

A World Without Princes by Soman Chainani

Third time reading this precious book. And it just keeps breaking my heart more and more. Hmph. But gosh, how I love it. I simply adore this series. So much. But yeah. The heartbreak is real. Sniffs. And now I'm even more nervous about re-reading book three, lol. Because that one made me cry last year. And I think it will hurt my heart even more now. But I'm also so excited for it, because that third book was the most beautiful and perfect one too. Sigh. I love these covers so much. And such stunning artwork inside.

I don't know what to say about this second book in this series. My third time reading it. And I love it very much. But it also makes my heart hurt a bunch. Sad face. Yet I can't help but love that too. Because I find this story to be so incredible. So much fun too. And evil. So evil. I would not say that these books are for children. Shrugs. Okay, not young children, at least. They are perfect for me. And everyone must read them. Hmph. But anyway. The writing is, as always, perfection. Which is the very best. Love these words.

I loved reading every page in this book. Though I must say that my favorite part is the ending. I finally got the kiss I had been waiting ages for, lol. And it is such a bad cliffhanger. Ack. But so exciting. And makes me worry so much, despite knowing all of book three. I just find this book to be so exciting and awesome and mean. I must say that I am still angry with Sophie. Sigh. She keeps lying about things, and hurting Agatha. But I also like her a little bit too. Because she can be a good person too. Maybe. A bit unsure.

I simply love every part of this book. All the characters are so much fun to read about. I adore Hester and Dot and Anadil. The three witches. Though they are a bit mean towards Dot. Hmph. But yeah. They are all adorable and horrible and I love them so much. The other characters in this book are awesome too. Though Hort is, as always, a bit annoying, lol. Yet I do feel for him. Very much. The teachers are still awesome, except the male ones. How they treated Tedros.. well. That wasn't okay at all. Big no for me.

There is a new villain in this book. A new Dean. And gosh. I hated this woman. Even more this third time reading about her. She was so awful. Shudders. And she ruined so much. Hmph. But, as always, she was interesting to read about. Maybe. But yeah. Mostly I just loved Dovey and Lesso. They are both so awesome. I just found all the characters to be interesting to read about. And I loved learning about them all. I truly did. But yeah. My favorite character was, as always, Agatha. And Tedros. And a little bit Sophie.

Agatha is still the best person I know of. She is so so good. She doesn't see what Sophie has done, what she continues to do. She always tries to see the best in her. In everyone. And I love Agatha for that. She is the kindest person. And oh, how I love reading about her and getting to know her. Sigh. Then there is Tedros, her prince. And gah. So much drama in this one. And I loved every moment. I love getting to know this boy. Though he can really be such an idiot sometimes. Ugh. Yet I still love him the most. Aw.

I'm so glad I'm re-reading these books right now. Though my heart is already dying, lol, and I haven't even started The Last Ever After yet. Ahh. But I'm also feeling so happy, because these books are so much fun too. But evil. Yes. I'm so excited for book four out next year. And the movie out too. I need to know more about it. Ack. Anyway. I just loved A World Without Princes so much. And I love these books the most. And I simply adore Soman. He is the most awesome. Cannot wait to read more books by him.

The Voyage to Magical North Blog Tour: Review

Well. I was so excited to take part in this blog tour, as I did enjoy the book a lot :) But then. Well. I haven't gotten any details from the tour hosts before my post was to go live, I haven't gotten any giveaway details either, and they have not responded to my emails or my tweet. Which I am finding a bit unprofessional. And it's annoying me greatly. But even so. I'm taking part in this tour. And I have written my review. And I found all the details myself. Even if they are going to be unprofessional, I am not. Hmph. Though I am very annoyed by it all. You can see the full tour schedule here, though I see that many posts have not showed up, probably because they also didn't get any details. Sigh. But anyway :D I am so happy to take part in this blog tour. And glad that I ordered the hardcover of this book for myself, before I signed up for this tour. I liked the book a bunch, and today I'm sharing my three star review of it :) Book is so pretty.

I'm unsure how to describe this book. I wrote a little bit in my preview review, but trying now to write even more. I'm pretty glad that I decided to read this book. Because I fell in love with Brine and Peter. And I liked the writing in this book a whole bunch. It is a fast read. I do wish it had been longer, though. But oh, it was pretty exciting. A bit dark too, which I loved. While I had some issues with the beginning, I grew to like this book a whole bunch. Still, a three star for me, but I liked it oh so much. Gosh, isn't it so pretty?

This book tells the story of twelve year of Brine. She was found on the ocean three years ago, and she doesn't remember anything about her life before. Which I found to be pretty interesting. And I am dying to know about her life before, as we didn't get to know much in this book at all. Hmph. But in book two, I'm sure it will happen. And I cannot wait. Brine was an awesome girl to read about. I loved reading about her life now, though I felt pretty bad about her having to be a servant. Sigh. But it also made sense. Sort of.

Brine was an awesome girl to read about. I didn't fully love her, but I really liked reading about her. And ah, Peter. I'm pretty sure he is twelve too. And I simply adored him so much. Reading about him was so much fun. Also because he can do magic. Which I loved very much. Eee. So exciting. At first, he and Brine are not friends. They just live together in the same house. But things go badly, and they are forced to leave. And they start getting to know each other better. And I loved their growing friendship so much.

There is a lot of characters in this book. I liked reading about them all. Though, lol, I did find the villain to be a bit silly. Shrugs. But still interesting to read about. I adored the cat that is on the ship. I loved getting to know the new younger boy, Tom, as well. He was pretty sweet. I liked the crew of the ship a whole bunch too. I'm a bit unsure about the character Cassie, aka the captain. I didn't like her in the beginning. Sigh. She forced them to work a lot at first, then she tried to sell them. Hmph. She got better, though.

This book is full of magic. Which I adored so much. I love reading about magic. And I liked that not so many people have magic. And Brine does not have any magic, and she's the main character. That made me happy too. I loved that Peter had it. But ugh. Yeah, I do feel like Brine will end up having magic in book two. Hmph. But anyway. This book was so exciting. So many dangerous creatures. There is actually a lot of death happening. Which I'm glad for. But it was a bit brutal too, lol. Like killer penguins. Shudders.

There is one thing I can't stop thinking about. There wasn't any romance in this one, which made me a bit sad, but I didn't mind that much. But yeah, I do ship Brine and Peter a whole bunch, lol. They would be so cute together. And I feel like they got so much closer near the end of the book. But then. Then Brine was thinking, and she mentioned that Peter was the closest thing she has to a brother. And ugh. I guess that means all my hopes of them starting to have feelings for each other are not worth it. But gah. I still want.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this book. I know, it is a three star for me. Usually that would mean that I had a lot of issues with a book. But not when it comes to this one. I just didn't love it like I wanted to. It had a slow beginning for me. It took a while for it to make me care. But I grew to like it a whole bunch. Still not above three stars, but a very strong one. Because I liked it a whole bunch. And I found the ending to be so awesome. But.. well. There wasn't a hug on page. That bothers me so much.

But yeah. I'm pretty glad that I read this book. Because I did end up liking it lots. And I'm glad I own this gorgeous hardcover. The cover is so pretty. Eee. Love. I saw on goodreads that there will be a second book. It didn't say what it will be about, but from the title, I'm pretty sure it is a direct sequel. Which makes me very excited, because I really wish to read more about Brine and Peter. And about the creature that showed up at the end of the book. Ack. So excited and curious. Anyway. You should all read this one.

Twelve-year-old Brine Seaborne is a girl with a past--if only she could remember what it is. Found alone in a rowboat as a child, clutching a shard of the rare starshell needed for spell-casting, she's spent the past years keeping house for an irritable magician and his obnoxious apprentice, Peter.

When Brine and Peter get themselves into a load of trouble and flee, they blunder into the path of the legendary pirate ship the Onion. Before you can say "pieces of eight," they're up to their necks in the pirates' quest to find Magical North, a place so shrouded in secrets and myth that most people don't even think it exists. If Brine is lucky, she may find out who her parents are. And if she's unlucky, everyone on the ship will be eaten by sea monsters. It could really go either way.

I live in South Wales, birthplace of the famous pirate, Henry Morgan.  I used to work at Cardiff University, first in health and safety (you will notice that my pirates fight VERY safely) and then in the university science library.  Now I write full-time at home with my husband and my two cats, usually stopped every chapter or two to let them in or out of the door.  (My cats, not my husband: he can already open doors.)

In my free time, I like skiing, flying kites, and music – I can play the cello a bit and I’m learning the piano.  I enjoy gardening and grow a lot of fruit and veg so if I come to visit you don’t be surprised if I bring a jar of jam.

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

I will never grow tired of reading this book. Sigh. I just cannot get over how amazing it is. How much I love it. This is my third time reading this one, and I think I fall in love with it more and more each time I read it. Which is just the best feeling. Eee. But I also get more heartbroken each time too, lol. Which is truly the meanest. Hmph. I'm so glad I decided to re-read the trilogy before reading the handbook. Because I really needed this. I love this book so much. You know, despite all that evil heartbreak, lol. It's the best.

I don't know what I wish to say about this book this time around. I just cannot truly believe how amazing it is. Soman is all kinds of amazing for writing these books. Sigh. Okay. The characters. I adored reading about them all. But my favorite is, of course, Agatha. I love her beyond words. She is the kindest person. But gah. She has been alone and without anyone for so long. Then she gets to this school, and everyone is treating her badly, and I just. I need my Agatha to be happy and loved. I need it oh so much. Sniffs.

While reading this book for the third time, I have truly realized that I might actually hate Sophie. I just can't help it. She is so evil in this book. I get why Agatha wanted to be friends with her. But at the same time, I did not. Because Sophie was mean towards everyone. She was especially mean towards Agatha at all times. I felt like she was using her the whole time, and I did not like it one bit. Hmph. I do like reading about Sophie. As a villain. She does not make a good friend at all, sadly. Agatha deserves much more.

It had taken her whole life to make a single friend. And here these girls had become best friends
in minutes as if making friends was the simplest thing in the world. Agatha prickled with shame.
In this School for Good, where everyone was supposed to be kind and loving, she had still
ended up alone and despised. She was a villain, no matter where she went.

I'm not going to mention all the other characters. But yeah. They are all amazing. Like Kiko and Dot and Hester and just all of them. I very much adored Tedros. Though he was also a lot of stupid in this book, lol. But I get him. Sort of. Either way, he is all kinds of cute, and he can he pretty sweet too, and I ship him and Agatha oh so much. Sigh. I did not like it when he was with Sophie. Hmph. Because she tricked him. So many times. And I was not okay with all of that. So mean. But also kind of interesting to read about.

There is just so much in this book. There is so much magic. And I loved it all so much. There are so many amazing characters. Even the teachers. I adored some of them so much. There is a school for good and one for evil. They are both so much fun to read about. And I never get tired of reading this book. All the fights still made me nervous, despite knowing the ending. This book just makes me so happy. And sad. But I don't mind. Because The School for Good and Evil is all kinds of precious to me. So much love.

I'm just so happy with how much I love this book. Eee. I mean, it also makes me the saddest, but I'm dealing with that. Though I am nervous about re-reading book three. When I read it almost a year ago, it killed me. And it is still killing me to think about it. Ahh. But it is also the most perfect book, and so I cannot wait to read it again. Just so worried about my heart. Gah. I'm so excited about re-reading the next two books. Then the handbook. And movie next year. And a fourth sequel book too. Eee. Excited.

If you still haven't read this precious book, then I do not know what you are waiting for. It is one of the best books I know of. The writing is perfection. The story is incredible. And all the characters are amazing to read about. This book has everything. It is said to be a middle grade. Which it is. But I also feel that it is much older than that, because so many bad things happen, lol. And the characters are older. And in love. And gosh. This book is just the most stunning thing. The whole series is. I could not have loved it more.

In My Mailbox #247

So hopefully reading more shortly :D I'm going to re-read The School for Good and Evil trilogy next, and I am oh so excited. <3 Yesterday and today have been our two hottest summer days in years. Sigh. Sadly, though, I did not get to spend today outside for long. Yesterday my cat got something in her throat. She kept coughing or whatever, and puking up slime, and she was not better today. And so I took her to the vet, as she eats a lot of grass when she's outside. Turns out she had a ten cm long grass in her throat. Shudders. She has been sleeping for five hours now, and have only been awake a little bit. But I think she's feeling better. Bad part was that it cost so goddamn much. Ugh. Especially since today was a saturday. Sigh. But it had to be done. And my girl is better. So yay. Anyway. This week. Even though I didn't get to read much, I have still had an awesome week :) I got so so much awesome mail :D Eeee. So happy about it all. <3 Not many posts this week, but still a few. 21st week of my new Book Collection posts. I will be doing this every Friday. And I am loving it. I own so many amazing books, and I love that I get to share my collection of many of them. I will be posting all my collections randomly, but I love them all. I hope you will all enjoy these posts of mine. Would love to know if you have any collections like mine; if you own and love these books too. Let me know. I love my books.

Books by Emily Murdoch

I know that this collection is only one book. But considering I have eight copies of this one, I decided to share. Gosh, it feels like forever already since I read If You Find Me. Ack. I must re-read it very, very soon. Because I adored it when I read it back in 2013. Wait. It's been over three years already since I read this book? Oh gosh. I really must re-read it soon. Because it is amazing. And oh, I adore Emily so so much. She is the kindest and sweetest person and I simply love her. She's always so kind. I adore my collection of her book. Preview Review: The Voyage to Magical North by Claire Fayers

I'm feeling pretty glad that I read this book. Despite it only being a three star for me. Because it was fun and full of adventure. I liked the writing a lot and I did adore the characters. Liked it lots. Just sharing a short preview review now, as I'm taking part in the official blog tour on July 27th, so I'm posting my full review then.

I heard about this book about two weeks before it published. And I had to pre-order it right away. Because that cover is all kinds of awesome. And I adore amazing middle grade stories. I feel a little bit sad that I didn't love this book, but I'm still happy with how I feel about it. Just a three star, yes, but a very strong one.

I found the writing to be pretty good and I liked the story a lot. The adventure was fun to read about, and I liked getting to know Brine and Peter. I just had some issues with the first third of the book. I didn't connect with it, and I didn't like how Peter was treated for a while. Sigh. But then it got so much better and I read through the last part so fast. I liked the ending a whole bunch and I'm so excited there will be a second book. Eee. It shall be so exciting, I think, and I just cannot wait to read it. Just wish it was out now, and not next May, lol. I'm impatient. Cannot wait to read more about Brine and Peter. This is a middle grade book full of magic and fantasy. It was fun to read, and I'm so happy I read it. I think you should all read this book.

Waiting on Wednesday #249

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

HUNTED BY MEAGAN SPOONER

Goodreads Description:

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

In My Mailbox #246

I'm unsure about this week. I'm feeling a little bit better, but still not feeling well, and it just sucks. Ugh. I'm still slow at reading. But I read one book this week, and finished another. Just. Yeah. I wish to read more. But not in the mood. Soon, I hope :) Anyway. Not much mail this week, ack, but more next week :D And even so, I love the little that I did get. <3 So much pretty. Also a few blog posts this week :) I posted my book recommendation of The Girl at Midnight. <3 This week I'm waiting on Crooked Kingdom :D Eee. Then I posted my review of The Shadow Hour. Sigh. My newest Book Collection post is books by Philip Pullman :D Ahh! I love them so much. <3 Anyway. My week has been good. Though I'm not feeling good. I got to see The Secret Life of Pets, which I adored a whole bunch. And I have just been busy bathing in my spa outside, haha :) It's the best thing. I was so behind on commenting on blogs, but then I did all of it. And I finished last night :D Yess. Finally caught up. For now. Sigh :) Anyway. I'm mostly doing very good.

Zootopia. Another gorgeous book from this movie :D I don't color yet, lol, but I love all the pages.
Serafina and the Twisted Staff. I adored book one. And I cannot wait to read this one :D Very soon.
And I Darken. I adore this book. So much. And this UK paperback is all kinds of awesome. I love it lots.
The Golden Compass. Eee :D I finally bought the audiobook. <3 I need the other two as well. Soonish.

Book Collection #20

20th week of my new Book Collection posts.

Books by Philip Pullman.

Oh, how much I love these books. I only first read them a few years ago, and I regret not reading them before. But yeah. They are my favorite books now. Favorite characters. The ending of book three was the most awful thing in the world. Shudders. I'm just dying for more news about The Book of Dust. Eee. It's going to be the most amazing. I just wish it was out already. I do not like waiting so long, lol. I have also read the two short stories from the same universe. But also own a few other books by him, that I have not read yet. And still missing a whole bunch. Ack. Buying more books by Philip soonish. Which I'm very excited about. I am in love with this collection of mine. I also wrote him a letter just over two years ago, which he replied to, eee. And sent me signed bookplates. Those are my most precious thing. Sigh. All the love. I'm re-reading this trilogy very soon, and I cannot wait. I love Lyra and Will the very most. My love.

Review: The Shadow Hour by Melissa Grey

Oh. I'm not sure where to begin with this book. So I'm starting by saying that I'm really disappointed in it. I can't even deal with thinking about this book. It took me days to finish it. And I wanted to quit it a few times. Which makes me so, so sad. Because I wanted to love this book so badly. But that was just impossible.

I pretty much adored book one. I have now read it twice. And I like it a whole bunch. But there was the beginning of a love triangle. And I feared it would be more. And I was right. Ugh. I started reading this book, and then I looked at reviews. I learned some things that made me hate the book right away. Then I read them.

I guess it was a bit unfair of me to judge the book before I had read those parts for myself. But I could not help it. And even so, when I got to those parts myself, I was even more pissed off. Because, yeah. There are two love triangles in this book. And I am so pissed off and angry and disappointed. They are just making me so upset. Sigh. I shall explain about them all, but it will be spoilery, just so you know. But it wasn't just the triangles that bothered me in this book. I almost hated Echo all the time. She just bothered me. I'm not even sure why, mostly. I just did not care for her. And that was so disappointing, because I loved her in book one. Sigh. And I had issues with the writing in this one. And I just did not care one bit about things that were happening. Makes me so sad.

This book wasn't all bad, though. But it is hard for me to focus on the good things, when there were so many bad things for me in this book. Sad face. I shall talk about all of it. But yeah. I did like this book at times. I liked the plot a whole bunch. I adored Ivy at all times. I loved that she might get a love interest in Helios, and I want to read about that so badly. I adored Dorian too. Always. And I love Caius the most. But even he felt silly at times. And that just makes me so upset. Aw. I wanted it to be better. It was so not.

Okay. Time to start talking about all the things I did not like about this book. Might take me a while. And I'm sorry about that. But I did spend ages reading this book, and so I feel like I need to share all my thoughts about it. Which I really want to do. Sigh. I just wish I had loved this book. Hmph. Because I just read the gorgeous UK ARC of it. And I have ordered a hardcover and paperback of this book, and so it just sucks the most that I did not like it. Yet I'm going to own three copies of it. Sigh. So very annoying.

I'm going to start with Echo. And why I did not like her in this book. Well. Three months have passed by since the end of The Girl at Midnight. Echo and Caius and Dorian and Jasper have been living together in hiding since then. Yet it did not seem like Echo and Caius were closer at all. They held hands. And that's it. Ugh. He obviously cares for her. She seemed to care for him, but never shows it. It bothered me how she just about never thinks about him in this book. Almost never. Yet she thinks about Rowan all the time.

And that is my issue. Rowan. Echo's boyfriend for two months before she met Caius. She never broke up with Rowan. And she never told Caius about him. Wth. This bothers me more than I can say. You don't enter a new relationship, and just don't mention that you have a boyfriend. Ugh. Then, of course, Rowan shows up. Early. And is with them the entire book. He kisses Echo. She kiss him back. She never tells Caius. Like. Seriously. Uuugh. And in the entire book, she only kisses Caius once. What. So, so rude.

I did not think this book would have a love triangle. I thought it would be better than that. But it was not. I'm so disappointed. Echo doesn't even know what she wants. She thinks about Rowan often. And never about Caius. She doesn't even react all that much when Caius says he loves her. Oh, how I am annoyed with this girl. Because of the triangle, but also because I just did not care for her. Sure, she's the firebird, but whatever. I didn't care anymore. I didn't even care about her past. Not that interesting, to be honest.

Okay, one more Echo thing before I move on from that. Rowan had told his people that Caius was the one who killed Ruby. Which was untrue. Echo did that. Yet she doesn't admit it. She lets Caius take the fault for it. And that bothered me too. Ugh. But enough about all that. Another love triangle was in this book. I ship Dorian and Jasper so much. They are adorable. But then Jasper's ex, Quinn shows up. Ugh. Jasper is scared of him, yet drawn to him, and I did not approve. I think it is done with, but so annoying.

I'm not sure what else I wish to say about this book. There are so many things that bothered me. But I feel like I have mentioned most of them. The romance just killed me. Caius deserves the best. And I'm not sure Echo is that person. And that just hurts my heart. I just do not get the point of two love triangles in this book. Ugh. But yeah. I didn't fully hate The Shadow Hour. I just did not like it. Sorry. So two stars from me for this one. I wish it had been better. I truly do. But yeah. That did not happen. Hmph. Sad face.

I will say, however, that I am excited about the third and final book. Because this book ends with a cliffhanger. Sigh. And I wish to know how it all ends. But yeah. I won't be re-reading The Shadow Hour. Love triangle. And it isn't cleared up by the end of the book. So not my thing. I hated how Echo thought about Caius sometimes. Just bothered me so much. Sigh. Anyway. I'm giving a huge thank you to the amazing Stephanie at Atom UK for sending me this gorgeous UK ARC edition. I shall treasure it. Always.

Book Recommendation: The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey

It's been a bit over a year since I first read The Girl at Midnight. I liked it a lot that time. But I knew that before I could read the sequel, The Shadow Hour, I had to re-read this one first. And I'm so glad I did so. I still adore this book. And I had forgotten so much, haha. Now I'm ready for the sequel next. Yess. So excited. This book is still a four star for me, though. Because of the romance parts. Sigh. But other than that, I loved most of this book. The characters are all amazing to read about. And I simply love the writing.

I'm just so glad I decided to re-read this book. It took me some time, sadly, but it was worth it. Because I adore this book a lot. I love Caius the very most. And I adore Echo so much. She's such an amazing girl, and I'm so glad I got to know her again. All of these characters are awesome. I adored Ivy as well. And I love Dorian and Jasper oh so much. I ship them the most, lol. They are the cutest. I liked reading about the Ala too. I sort of liked Rowan. Sigh. But I'm mostly just angry that he exists, haha. So many people.

But gosh, the plot in this book is pretty exciting. I loved reading about the different people in it. Those who have feathers instead of hair. Those who have scales on their body. I wish that they could still turn into dragons. Aw. Would have been so awesome to read about, lol. But still loved them all. I loved how well this world were created. It is ours, yet not. I just liked getting to know about all of it. Though there is still so much I don't know. I liked the plot about the Firebird, and the hunt for it. It was interesting to read about.

I'm not sure what I wish to share about this book this time. So I might not write all that much. I just wanted to share my thoughts again, after having read this book for the second time. Though it is still a four star for me, I'm so glad I re-read it. Because I do truly adore it oh so much. Echo is amazing Caius is the best. And I love reading about them falling for each other. I loved reading about them being together. But I'm also so nervous. Sigh. I feel like this series could end badly for them. And I don't want that. Not at all.

The reason for why I'm not fully loving The Girl at Midnight, is still because of the romance. I mean. The romance is really about Echo and Caius. And they are truly the sweetest. But the issue is that Echo has a boyfriend. Sigh. Rowan. They have been together as a couple for two months. Have known each other for ten years. So it's a bit annoying for me. I can't stand love triangles. Echo has not broken up with him. Yet she's with Caius now. They haven't all been together yet, and I'm nervous. I need my happy ending.

I'm nervous yet super excited about the next two books in this trilogy. I'm reading The Shadow Hour next, ack, but then I must wait another year for the final book. Hmph. How mean. I do think it will be amazing, though. I'm just a bit nervous about the romance, lol. But I have hope. And I do think I will love both books. Because I do love the characters. And I loved the plot too. So yeah. I'm excited. Okay. I'm out of words. Just so glad I re-read this book. And if you haven't read it yet, then you really need to. So good.
