Waiting on Wednesday #706

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

LADY'S KNIGHT BY AMIE KAUFMAN & MEAGAN SPOONER

Goodreads Description:

An undeniably fierce, unforgettably funny, unapologetically queer feminist romp through the England of medieval legend. Bestselling and acclaimed authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner bring readers along on an epic quest for valor, freedom, and, above all, love. A Knight’s Tale meets the Lady Jane series, with a dash of The Great!

Gwen is sick of hiding—hiding the fact that she’s taken over her father’s blacksmithing duties, hiding her attraction to girls, hiding her yearning for glory as a knight.

Meanwhile, Lady Isobelle of Avington, queen bee of the castle, has never once considered hiding who she is—until now. She’s been chosen as the grand prize in the Tournament of Dragonslayers, to be given to whichever knight can claim her hand. And for the first time in her life, she can’t talk her way out of trouble.

When Isobelle discovers Gwen’s knightly ambitions, they hatch a scheme together—Gwen will joust in the tournament, disguised as Sir Gawain. Winning means freedom for Isobelle, and glory for Gwen. Losing means… well, let’s not go there.

One thing’s for sure: falling in love was never the plan.

But the best laid plans…are often trampled all over by dragons.

"A sapphic delight, full of jousts, jaunts, and courtly love. Lady's Knight sparkles with wit and charm and has lady knights to swoon over. Kaufman and Spooner will leave you breathless." —C. S. Pacat, New York Times bestselling author of Dark Rise

Format: 432 pages, Hardcover
Expected Publication: June 3, 2025 by Storytide
Pre-Order: Blackwells and Amazon US and Amazon UK

I am so curious about this book :D I'm such a big fan of Amie and Meagan. <3 They are both awesome. And I have read many of their books together; all of them awesome. I do not usually read a lot of queer books, as I prefer straight romances. But those I have read have been great. And this romance sounds cute. And this whole book sounds all kinds of fun. I just know that I'm going to love it. <3 Cannot wait :D

In My Mailbox #703

Hope you all had a great Easter :D I did; just spending it at home, as usual. <3 But grilled outside with my small family, which is always nice :) But oh, this week have sucked. Started out good, spa bath finally up. Gotten to take two baths so far, and it has been the very best :) But it's still full winter here, snowing often, and so cold. Brrr. Waiting for the wind to be better before taking more baths :) Then my cat got sick days ago. Her usual way of puking all day, not eating or drinking just puking water and blank slime. She's done this several times over the years. So I waited for her to get better, as she always does after about twelve hours. But this time she did not. She was not better the next day. And she puked twice more after twenty four hours. And she hadn't peed for almost two days and only drank a little water and did not eat. I was so worried for her. It took her three days before she was back to normal. Today she is much better and more normal, eating like herself again. But gods. Those days were the worst. I really thought she was going to die. Kept checking her all the time, all night too. But oh. She thankfully got better. <3 But yeah. That was scary and stressful. I did not get a lot of mail this week, but I will be getting a whole ton next week. Ahhh. Help, haha. <3 But so excited :D I did not get to start my next read this week, ack. But in the next days, I hope. Just been too busy and worried about my cat. Watched some new crime shows, though. The Glass Dome on Netflix was awesome. And The Stolen Girl on Disney+ was amazing too. Loved them both. This week I'm waiting on To Clutch a Razor :) Hope you are doing well. <3 Do you have spring where you live?

Funko Pop Figures. Bought these from EMP. <3 Some cute exclusives that I had to own :D Finally got that gorgeous pumpkin Stitch; wanted him for so long :) I own Winnie the Pooh in glitter; now without :)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth pulls from Slavic folklore to explore family, duty, and what it means to be a monster in this sequel to the USA Today bestselling novella When Among Crows

A funeral. A heist. A mission born of desperation.

When someone in Dymitr’s family dies, he’s called back home for the Empty Night, a funeral rite intended to keep evil at bay.

The secret Dymitr is keeping from them makes returning home downright dangerous, but if he wants to get his hands on a book of curses that might appease Baba Jaga’s blood lust, he has no choice. And when that same funeral brings ferocious creature-of-legend Niko to town for his own bloody purposes, Dymitr’s charade becomes impossible to maintain.

Family gatherings can be brutal. Dymitr’s might just be fatal.

Waiting on Wednesday #704

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

THE LIBRARIANS BY SHERRY THOMAS

Goodreads Description:

Murder disrupts the peaceful, predictable daily routine of life for four quirky librarians who must protect their life-altering secrets in the first contemporary mystery from USA Today bestselling author Sherry Thomas.

Sometimes a workplace isn’t just a workplace but a place of safety, understanding, and acceptance. And sometimes murder threatens the sanctity of that beloved refuge....

In the leafy suburbs of Austin, Texas, a small branch library welcomes the public every day of the week. But the patrons who love the helpful, unobtrusive staff and leave rave reviews on Yelp don’t always realize that their librarians are human, too.

Hazel flees halfway across the world for what she hopes will be a new beginning. Jonathan, a six-foot-four former college football player, has never fit in anywhere else. Astrid tries to forget her heartbreak by immersing herself in work, but the man who ghosted her six months ago is back, promising trouble. And Sophie, who has the most to lose, maintains a careful and respectful distance from her coworkers, but soon that won't be enough anymore.

When two patrons turn up dead after the library’s inaugural murder mystery–themed game night, the librarians’ quiet routines come crashing down. Something sinister has stirred, something that threatens every single one of them. And the only way the librarians can save the library—and themselves—is to let go of their secrets, trust one another, and band together....

In My Mailbox #701

Been another week of healing. Now 11 days since my surgery. And I am doing much better, thankfully :) It still hurts to swallow, but it is much better. It was such a hard first week, though. I ate so little and I drank little too, as I got so tired of everything that I could drink. But now I'm eating dinner normally again, which I so love. Still cannot drink my daily red bull, but hopefully soon. I'm fully exhausted, though. Still taking it easy. And can't bathe in my warm baths yet either. Hmph. I did go on my first daily walk today, which was nice. I wish I could take up my spa bath. But still need to wait over a week for that. Aw. If I am healed by then, of course. I so cannot wait, eee. Missed my spa bath so much. I have not read anything yet, though I have my next book planned. Just been taking it easy and doing pretty much nothing. Re-watched some movies. The Lord of the Rings, extended editions, always. <3 Now working on The Hobbit. Reading next week, I think :) Excited about Easter and grilling outside. I may have gotten a whole lot of mail this week. Ahhh. But less in the next weeks, haha :) I got everything at once. Oops. Love it all, though, of course. <3 Eee. Master of Souls. Book three. Have yet to read book one. But finally bought this one, very much delayed.
Dustborn. Finally managed to buy the paperback of this one, that came out a few years ago. I loved it. <3
Firebird. Amazon edition. Also waiting on Waterstones. Oops. It just looked so awesome. I hope to love it.
The Notorious Virtues. US edition has arrived. <3 I'm hoping to read this book this summer. Excited for it.
Storm Dragons: Firebred. Book two in a series I have yet to start. But it's Julie Kagawa. Had to have it :)

The Art of Moana 2. Finally got to buy this book as well. I own so many Art of books. This is gorgeous. <3

Funko Europe. Yeah. I could not stop myself from placing this big order, eee. Nine new Stitch pop figures. They are just epic. Love. I got the girl with the cat for the cat, haha. And I got the chase. What even. So it is fluffy. Unsure if that is good. Still. Cute. I could not stop myself from getting the new Britney Spears :D

In My Mailbox #700

Hi. This have not been an easy week at all. Started with going to the hospital on Monday for my tonsils surgery. Fasted all day, and was told to be the last on the list for surgery, as always. They got me ready with the needle in my arm, and I was just waiting for my turn. Then I was told they did not have time for me. Ha. So we had to stay an extra day and do the surgery on Tuesday instead and not go home until very late Wednesday. Which was the absolute worst. Plus side, got to do a little shopping and eating on Monday then. But I was fully exhausted. Then it was surgery on Tuesday. Got taken in earlier, so I got it done. It went well, I think. I am in a bunch of pain. But it also is not that bad, thankfully. But oh, it hurts to swallow. Badly. So I do not eat or drink much. Trying to drink more, but it is difficult, as many things just burn my throat. So I haven't eaten much at all. But that's okay; I can survive a couple of weeks with little food :) Shall be good for my health, I think, haha. I'm still worried about bleedings and possibly dying. It can still happen while healing. But so far everything is going well, so fingers crossed. But yeah. I'm still nervous. Yet so glad I finally got rid of my huge tonsils. Can already notice a huge difference with them gone. But anyway. Now I'm just taking it easy and trying to heal. Will spend two weeks at least doing just about nothing, which is needed. Possibly three, depends on if I heal fast or not. And my body is not fast at healing. Ha. Anyway. Got a bit of precious mail this week. <3 Now back to relaxing and hoping these next weeks pass by fast. Fingers crossed. This week I'm waiting on Firebird :) Hope you are all doing well. <3

The Prince Without Sorrow. I'm still a little unsure if this book will be for me. But I want to give it a try :)
The Notorious Virtues. This book is finally out, after so many years :D UK Waterstones exclusive. Love.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure Deluxe Edition Switch. Eee. Finally I will get to play this game very soon. <3
Bukowski Plush. Two new plushes from the hospital airport. <3 Love them both very much. Two small :)
Jellycat Plush. I just had to order this most adorable bee bear, haha :D Bartholomew is such a cute plush.
Flåklypa Grand Prix. Norwegian Switch game, that I used to play on a PC. Collector edition. Had to have.
Lego. Couldn't resist finally buying a couple Animal Crossing legos; just small ones. <3 + free Easter one.
