Review: Altered by Jennifer Rush

I had been meaning to read this book for a few months now. But I didn't. Not until now. I'm not sure why I didn't start it sooner. It might be because I knew I would like it a lot, and I was worried that it wouldn't be as amazing as I wanted it to be. But then yesterday I couldn't find anything that I wanted to read. And then I saw this beautiful book on my shelves. And I knew I needed to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did. Altered is a really amazing book. One I will not forget for a very long time.

Altered is just really amazing. I don't really know how to describe it, how much I loved it. But I will try my best to do it :) First, the story is really amazing. Kind of unique too, not sure I have ever read a book like this before. Which is totally awesome. The plot is just really, really good and I just wanted to read about it forever. Did not want this book to end. I loved the climax as well. And I cannot wait to read more of it all.

This book is about Anna. She lives at a farm with her dad; her mom's been dead since she was one years old. She has a pretty good life. And I enjoyed reading about her. She is an amazing girl, and the best person to have as the main character. I loved reading her point of view. The thing is. In their basement there are four boys. They have been there for five years. A part of an experiment by the Branch. I hated it. The way they were sitting in sort of cells. Without being able to see each other at all. But they do have Anna.

Which was also kind of depressing, since they were captured, and she is free to do what she wants, go where she wants. But I still loved that she had a close relationship with them all. It was really sweet and all kinds of awesome. There is Sam, Trev, Cas and Nick. Nick is kind of an asshole, and he and Anna don't get along. But yeah. I got him. Sort of. I did like him a whole lot, at least ;p And I adored Cas as well. He liked to eat a lot, lol. And Trev, her best friend. Sniffs. Well. Unsure how I felt about him.

Then there was Sam. I'm still a tiny bit unsure how I was supposed to feel about him. Yeah, I loved him from the very beginning until the end. Like Anna did. She fell for him hard. And I loved that, to be honest. But he does some pretty awful things early in this book, killing a whole lot of people. But even so. He is amazing, and I adored him a lot. He's sweet and protective. All of the boys are. And I loved them all. Also, really glad there wasn't any kind of love triangle. Sam is the only love interest :)

We get to know the four boys a lot in this book. Yet not enough. I wanted to know even more about them. You see, they are all without their memories. They can't remember anything about themselves before those five years. And that broke my heart. But it was also so amazing, and I loved it so much. I cannot wait to read more about each of them. I want to know it all. Although some of Sam's memories I did not want.. but yeah. I really did enjoy it all, still. And oh. They are all just so incredibly amazing.

I don't want to say any more about the plot. I don't want to spoil this book for you guys. But yes. The plot is amazing. There is a lot of action scenes, which I thought were done really well. I loved them. Also so many deaths, though. I liked them. There is a whole bunch of things happening in this book, and yet I wanted more things to happen. But everything that did happen were amazing, and it really couldn't have been better. Well, okay, I might have wanted even more romance between Sam and Anna. Hih. <3

Altered is an amazing book. It has a great heroine, four amazing boys, and the best plot. It really is a book you all need to read. Now I'm dying to read Erased, and I so wish it would be out sooner than January 2014.. Time need to move faster, in my opinion ;p But yes. I cannot wait to read more about Sam and Anna and Nick and just everyone. They were all just so amazing, and they all have a special place in my heart. I know that I will re-read this book in the future. Hopefully soon, I think. Sigh.

I haven't been able to decide how to rate this book. But I'm going with a five star review. Because, yeah. I kind of really loved it, and I'm not finding any big faults with it to give it just four stars :) At first I wasn't sure if I liked the writing, but yeah, I ended up loving it, and the story was just so really good that I couldn't have loved this book any more. I cannot wait to read the sequel. Want it right away. Oh, and yeah, you really need to read Altered :) Right away, please. It is just that good. You will love it.

  1. I have read so many mixed things on this book. At first several bloggers loved it then more and more people read it and really didn't like the male characters and the relationship they had with the girl in the story. I just don't know which way I would feel about this book. I do have high hopes for it though.

Thanks for the great review, glad you loved it!

  2. Oh I completely missed that you had read this! I had a few mixed thoughts on it, but I really enjoyed it too overall. I was so glad that there wasn't a love triangle (hurrah!), and I loved the four boys. I do hope we get to find out more about a few of them in Erased though. :) Lovely review, Carina!
