In My Mailbox #234

I have had a good week. For the most part. I cannot even begin to tell you how jealous I am of everyone getting those lovely ARCs that I want more than anything. Sniffs. I would do anything to get those on my wishlist. Just, yeah. A bit sad about that. But also had a good week, even so :D I read two books, and now I know what I wish to read next for a while. Yesss. That makes me happy. Plus, next week I will be getting an UK ARC of Nevernight, and I could not be happier about it :D Oh gosh. I got some stunning mail this week, including some missing pre-orders, finally. Another thing that makes me sad is that I'm still working on selling some books. Around 300. And now I have had to go down half the price, which is so goddamn cheap. Sobs. But I want to get them sold, because I need some room for new books, lol. Just, yeah. A bit depressing. I did blog a bit this week :D I shared my preview review of And I Darken. <3 I posted my newest Book Giveaway :D Love that so many of your have entered. <3 Hugs. Zootopia. This one is so so cute :D Gosh, I love this movie the most. Cute cards inside it too. I love it.
Inside Out. Gorgeous. But way too expensive to be that little. Ugh. Feels like I wasted my money. hmph.
Star Wars. I know. I have yet to see the original movies. But this was cheap to pre-order; I had to get it.
The Thickety: The Whispering Trees. Finally bought the paperback I was missing :D I LOVE these books.
The Unwanteds: Island of Dragons. Final book :D Gosh, I must re-read the first 3, then read the next. <3
Forest of Ruin. I know. I have not read the first books, lol. But I own them. And I will read them all soon.
Lady Renegades. Heh, again, not read the first books. But own them all. And reading them all soonish.
The Mirror King. Yay! Finally got my regular hardcover that is for reading, lol :D So good and gorgeous.
Let the Storm Break. This is annoying me. Gorgeous new paperback edition. Love it. I also ordered the first book in new edition. They sent me the old one. Can't give me the new. Ugh. Must find it elsewhere.

The Mirror King + The Orphan Queen. EEE! So much swag :D Love love love. Thank you Jodi. <3 Happy that I pre-ordered these two from The Book Spot. Loved getting them signed. Sigh. All kinds of perfect.

Book Collection #8

Eight week of my new Book Collection posts. I will be doing this every Friday. And I am loving it. I own so many amazing books, and I love that I get to share my collection of many of them. I will be posting collections randomly, but I love them all. I hope you will all enjoy these posts of mine. Books by Claire Legrand. 

Gosh, I love Claire so much. She is the kindest person, and she writes the most stunning books. I have read and loved them all. And I love my collection the very most. Still looking for ARCs of Cavendish and Year of Shadows, plus her newest one, Foxheart. I want that one the very most. Oh. I did not include the two books that Claire only has one story in, because I feel like those don't count. But I own those too, lol. Just, yeah. I own no signed books, but I'm getting many in May, and I cannot wait. Once Foxheart publishes, I will post a newer collection picture too. Also, I own a bunch of gorgeous swag by Claire too.

Review: Siren's Song by Mary Weber

It took me a long time to read this book. Which makes me a bit sad. I gave book one and two both four stars, which was a year ago, and I liked them so much. And I had been waiting so long for this book, and was so excited to read it. Yet I did not start it until now. Hmph. I did like it. But, I did not love it. Sad face.

I'm not sure how to talk about this book. Because my feelings are a bit meh about it. Which makes me so sad. Because I really wanted to love this book. But I did not. But I still liked it a lot, and so I'm giving it three stars. I just did not love anything about it. Sigh. I'm just so upset about it, lol. I wanted to love it.

I think my biggest issue with this book was the writing. I see that I said in my reviews of the first two books that I liked the writing. But I'm starting to wonder now if I did not like it. Because, yeah, I had huge issues with it in this book. It's not that the writing is awful. Because it is not. I did like it. I just. Well. I did not like how the characters talked to each other. I did not like how Nym was thinking. I did not like the different curse words in this book, because they felt weird, and they were there so very often. It bothered me. And then there was the focus on the Luminescent. That word is used all the time. And their red eyes. It is always written. So, so often. And ugh. It just bothered me a lot. But I didn't hate it, even so. Just not the best.

I like that this book is from the point of view of Nym. I do like her. I just did not love her in this book. Sigh. But she is an amazing character. Kind and sweet. I like how she protects the people. I like how she cares for Eogan, though it got a bit old to have her describe him as beautiful and whatever every time she looked at him. Sigh. But still. I like that she cares. What I liked most about Nym, though, were her Elemental powers. It was pretty awesome. Yet not that amazing as I wanted it to be, though. Hmm.

But yeah. The romance in this one bothered me. Because it isn't really there. Ugh. There is just about no kisses. Only a few, and those made me feel nothing at all. There is no drama, thankfully, but no passion either. She keeps thinking about how he makes her feel, and stuff, yet they never truly kiss or spend much time together. Not much talking either. Which made me so sad, because I didn't really see why they cared for each other so much. I so wanted there to be lots of romance in this final book. Was not.

I do like Eogan. Yet I never loved him in this book. I didn't feel anything for him and Nym. And that makes me so sad. Hmph. I wanted to care. I really did. But I just did not. Probably because of the writing. I do not know. Shrugs. It just bothered me that I couldn't love it like I wanted to. But yeah. I guess it was just not for me. But I did like it a lot. I truly did. I liked reading about Eogan and Nym together. I liked reading about how they tried to stop the war and such. I just never felt much for it.

There is a bunch of characters in this book. I must admit that I didn't really care for any of them. There is a seven year old boy, whom is cute, but I didn't love him either. Hmph. There is more of Lord Myles, whom might even be my favorite character, lol. He was the most interesting one, in any case. But felt like there wasn't enough focus on him at the end of the book. Then there is the villain. Sigh. He wasn't there until the end, and then it ended so fast. I just felt like the villain was a little bit wasted. Shrugs.

I'm not sure what else to say about this book. So I'm just not going to say much more about. I did like it, though it may not seem that way, lol. But I did. I liked reading about the different creatures in this book. And I did like knowing how it all ended. But at the same time, my feelings for this book is just meh. I didn't love it. And I didn't care for most of it. I wish it had been better. But at the same time I did like it. Sigh. I do think you all need to read this trilogy, however. Because all three are pretty amazing.

I just want to mention that I adore Mary. So much. She's always so kind and sweet. I cannot wait to read more books by her in the future. I am happy to have read these books. And I am glad I finally read this final one. I did like it. And oh, I am so thankful to the publisher for having that awesome contest last year, as I now own this stunning signed hardcover, and some very precious swag. I treasure it. Huge thank you to Thomas Nelson, for accepting my request via Netgalley. I'm sorry I didn't read it until now.

I adore Beth Revis. She is so sweet and her books are so amazing. And gosh, I have been waiting so long for this one already, lol. I simply cannot wait to read it :D It sounds heartbreaking. Which I do not want it to be. Hmph. Yet I think I will end up loving it so, so much. Oh, I so cannot wait to finally get to read it. Soon it shall be mine. And it looks so pretty too :D I shared about the cover reveal here, ages ago :)

Review: The Cabinet of Curiosities: 36 Tales Brief & Sinister

So glad that I finally decided to read this precious book. I can't believe it has almost been two years since it came out. Ack. I have been meaning to read it for so long, yet I kept putting it off. Hmph. Which I shouldn't have. Because these 36 stories were all amazing. Such a good book. So thrilled I finally read it.

This book is written by Claire Legrand, Stefan Bachmann, Katherine Catmull and Emma Trevayne. They all wrote amazing stories for this book. And eee. I enjoyed them all so much. I only fully loved a few of them, but I liked them all; everyone was rated three stars or higher. I just really liked these stories.

I have only read books by Claire and Emma so far, but I am so curious about reading books by Stefan and Katherine too. I do own a few of them. One day, I shall read them. So excited. I must admit to being the most excited about this book because of Claire Legrand. Whom I have loved for many years now, and I love all of her books. Eeek. I simply can't wait to read whatever she is writing next. She's such a favorite of mine. The kindest person and the most talented author. I loved her stories so much in this book. But I also loved all of the other stories too. I loved how amazing the writing was from all four authors. I loved how every story is short and awful and sometimes ends happily, but most often not. It was scary and fun to read. Loved it.

Since there are as many as 36 stories in this book, I am not going to rate and write a bit about each of them. Because that would take forever, lol. But I did rate them. And I can say that twelve stories were given three stars. Nineteen stories were given four stars. Sadly, only five stories were given five stars. Which is why I'm rating the book on a whole with four stars. But oh, I did love all of the stories. I just didn't fully love them. But they were all well written and amazing and exciting. So glad I read them all.

But how do I even talk about this book, without talking about all the different stories? Ack. I will try my best. I just, wow. I liked all the stories so much. They are so dark. There are so many different types of children. Mean ones. Kind ones. Unlucky ones. Most of the stories ends badly. And I really loved it lots, because they were scary and awful and so good. A couple of the stories do have happy endings, though, for some, lol. And I loved those a lot as well. Some of the stories were a bit sad, and I loved that too.

Some of these stories I remember more than others. Like the story about the boy inside a whale, and what happened when a ship found him alive. Shudders. It was creepy and mean and it broke my heart a little. Such a good story. I loved every story by Claire, but especially about Quicksilver, and I cannot wait to read the book that have been written just about her, eee, which will be out later this year, and is called Foxheart. Gosh. It is going to be the very best. Love that one of these stories will be a full book.

Another story that I loved a lot was about a girl who was lucky. Yet everyone around her was unlucky, and so many awful things happened to them all. Shudders. It was very short, and did not have a happy ending, for other people, lol, but I liked it lots. Interesting and creepy. All of these stories were really interesting and creepy. There was a story about a cute dog, and bad flowers. I liked that one so much too. Just, ugh. I don't know what else to say about these stories. They were amazing. And horrifying.

Though this book have been out for almost two years now, I have not heard that much about it. Hmph. Which is making me a bit upset, lol, because this book was incredible. And I need you all to read and love it. The Cabinet of Curiosities was exciting and creepy and I loved every moment of it. So many amazing stories. Written by awesome authors. So many different children, and I fell in love with almost all of them. I want another book like this by these authors. Eee. I need it. Would read it in a heartbeat.

I think you should all read this book. Because all of the stories are amazing and so important to read. I'm not sure I would recommend it for young children, lol, as they are pretty scary, but then again, I would have loved to read this as a child, despite not reading when I was one. Sad face. But yes. This book is amazing. And you must all read it. You will love it, like I did. Because the stories are so good. The writing is so good. There is also a little bit of gorgeous artwork inside. The authors are amazing too.
