Review: The Wish Granter by C. J. Redwine

I really adored this book. Like I knew I would. When so many upcoming books showed up on Edelweiss, I couldn't help but read this one first. Because I adore this author. And I loved her first retelling book, The Shadow Queen. Plus this one looks gorgeous and sounds amazing. Eee. And it was so good. Sigh.

This book was just amazing. Such a stunning fantasy novel. I loved everything about it. Gosh. I shall try my best to share all that I loved about it, though it might be a bit hard, because words are failing me. This book was just so beautiful. And I loved every word of it. The writing was gorgeous, as it always is with C. J.

The Wish Granter is told from the point of view of Ari, Sebastian and Teague. Ari is the princess. Her twin brother, Thad, just turned king three weeks before. Because he made a wish. And gosh, this plot line was exciting. More about that soon. I just have to share how much I loved Ari. She was the most perfect girl. I adored getting to know her. She has dark skin and she's fat. She's the cutest character I have read about in a while. She's so sweet and so fierce and so smart and I loved how she tried to protect those she loved. I loved how she loves food. I loved how she doesn't care for the rules about being a princess. I loved how she was with her friends. Ari was the most awesome. We don't get to know her brother too much, but I adored him too.

I loved reading about this world they live in. As with The Shadow Queen, they live in a kingdom in this big world. If you look at the gorgeous map for book one, it is easier to see. Gosh, I hope that map will be in this book too. It wasn't in the eARC. Hmph. I felt a little bit sad that the same characters from her first retelling book wouldn't be in this one, but then I met these new characters, and I'm sort of okay about it, lol. There is a small cameo in the beginning of the book. Very small. Very gorgeous and perfect. Loved it.

Most of this book takes place in their palace, and the town surrounding it. I was okay with that. Because this town was pretty amazing and horrifying. This book is all kinds of dark and disturbing. I loved every moment of it. There is a lot of violence. Shudders. But it was all written so well and I couldn't help but love reading about it. But gosh. This villain was simply the worst. Ahh. I must say that I hated him. But I loved reading about him. But I wanted him dead at all times. He was not a good person. He did so much awful.

I do sort of wish there had been more creatures in this book. Like in book one there were dragons. In this one there weren't really many animals at all. At one point there were a few beasts, which were horrible, but they weren't there for long. This book is mostly about the fae, though there is only one present, The Wish Granter. Shudders. Teague was simply the most awful person. And he has his own point of view too. Ahh. This villain was bad. And I loved how C. J. wrote him. She's awesome. And Teague was awful.

There is so much about this book that I loved. The writing is fantastic. The story is so amazing. The characters were all so awesome. I loved Ari so much. And her best friend, Cleo, was amazing too. I adored her. And then there was Sebastian. Ah. I loved getting to know this boy. I loved how he started working at the palace. How he and Ari started spending time together. I loved how they started growing closer, becoming friends and then more. It was simply the most cutest thing. Gosh, how I loved them.

Sebastian was the most amazing boy. And he was so broken. Oh. It shattered my heart a bit. This boy was so sweet and loving and kind and he was so broken from his past. It was awesome, haha. I love my boys to be broken. Though his past was all kinds of heartbreaking. Sniffs. But it was written so well and it was so interesting to read about and gosh. It just made me love this boy even more. I loved the way he started to care for Ari. I loved how they had such an amazing friendship. And how it slowly became more.

I just loved this book so much. The romance was the sweetest. A bit slow, but gorgeous. I shipped them so much, hih. But this book is about much more than that. Is it very much about the villain. And how he is ruining this kingdom. How he tricked Thad into making a wish. A wish that will take away his soul in ten years. Shudders. This book is about Ari being willing to do everything to try to save her brother. And the rest of the kingdom too, because Teague has ruined them all. And oh, how it is exciting. And so terrible.

I think I'm done talking about my love for this book. It was just so good. And I loved every moment of it. Ahh. The ending was stunning. I wish the book had been a bit longer, like always, but it truly was perfect. Heartbreaking and evil and so gorgeous. The Wish Granter was perfection. I loved it the most. All the characters were so incredible and amazing. I need you all to read this book. And eee, I love that it is coming out on Valentine's Day. So awesome. This book is romantic. And heartbreaking. And just perfect.
