Review: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

THIS IS A MUST READ! And oh god. I am so glad I read it. It is one of the best books I have read. It is stunning. And amazing. And so, so, so good.

I don't know how to describe this book. Other than saying how freaking awesome it is. I love the characters in it. I really liked Kate "Puck" Conolly. She is fierce. And so great. And I loved her brother; Finn. He was just too cute and adorable. And so nice. I did not like her other brother, Gabriel, though. Not really.

And oh, Sean Kendrick. He is so amazing. He is pretty, (I think), and so kind, and sweet. And extremely protective. Of Corr. And just omg. I loved Corr. So much. I want my own Corr. I also really liked George Holly. He was kind of awesome.

But I really, really, really hated Mutt. SO MUCH HATE. I wished to murder him all the time while reading. And I cannot say how deeply I wished for Sean to punch him. Or for someone else to do it. He was pure evil. His father too, somewhat. But not as much as Mutt.

I really liked the little romance in this book. I wish it would have been much more, but I didn't need it to love the book. I loved the way everything was written. Switching between Sean and Puck's POV, but it wasn't third POV :D And that I really liked.

However, what I loved the most about this book was the capaill uisce. I LOVED THE HORSES! They creeped me out so much. But I just couldn't help but loving them, still. I absolutely loved that they were water horses. And oh, they were just too good for words.

This book is most definetly a must read. If you haven't already. It is always interesting. It will make you fall in love so many times. But it will also scare the crap out of you. Kind of :)

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.

  1. I loved this book! I'm still trying to write my review so it expresses the pure awesomeness of this story!

  2. Yeah, I love it too! So so much. Re-reading it right now :) And it is still just as amazing.

  3. This did not go the way that I thought it would, at all, but I loved it anyway, even more I think than I would have if it had. My one peeve is that Puck's second reason for joining the race seemed a bit conveniently placed. I don't hate it though.
This being my second Stiefvater book, after Shiver, I think I'm officially a fan and will seek out the rest.
Highly recommended Ipe Decking for sale
