Book Recommendation: Flashfall by Jenny Moyer

It hasn't even been four months since I first read Flashfall. Yet when I got my ARC of book two, I couldn't imagine not re-reading this precious book first. And I am so glad that I did so. Because Flashfall is still perfect to me. I loved it beyond words, again. Oh, this book is stunning. I don't know how to describe it all again. So not going to talk too much about it this time. Just mentioning a few things that I love about it. Eee. If you still haven't read this one, then get moving. You are missing out on the most awesome book.

The writing in Flashfall is so perfect. I loved reading every page of this book. I loved that the book is told from the point of view of Orion. Whom I adore beyond words. This girl is amazing. So brave and kind and awesome. I love how broken just about every person in this book is, yet they still have hope, like Orion does. She makes the best out of everything. And she's starting to fight back against certain things. And I loved that about her. Oh, how I adored getting to know this fierce girl. She was simply the best person.

I loved that this book managed to creep me out again. A lot of it takes place inside awful caves. and it was the most awesome thing to read about. Dangerous. Scary. I loved every moment of it. These caves were the worst. Nine different ones, some more dangerous than others. The most dangerous being the one that Orion and Dram have to go into every day. And ahh, the creatures. I cannot with how awesomely they were written. So good. So awful. Loved reading about them the very most. But yeah, scary as well.

The plot in this book is simply the most awesome thing. I loved reading about this world. How it is divided between everyone. How Orion is living in one of the worst places. Reading about the flash curtain was so interesting, yet so horrible. This world is awful. And I loved reading about it the most. Eee. I loved reading about all the cave parts. And the different places that Orion ended up at for a short time. Shudders. This book is heartbreaking and evil and beyond exciting. Oh, so glad that I re-read it now. Loved it the same.

What I love most about this book is the friendship and relationship between Orion and Dram. It is the cutest thing. They have been friends and cave partners for years. And this friendship is finally starting to become something more. And it's so cute and sweet to read about. Not much romance, but enough, and it's the best thing. Oh, I hope it will be just as good in book two. Eee. A bit nervous. Yet so excited. Dram was such an amazing person too. So protective and fierce. And truly awesome to get to know too. Eee.

There is so much happening at all times in this book. And I loved reading about it all again so so much. Though this book is all kinds of sad. There are a bunch of characters to get to know and start loving. And then most of them ended up dying. Ahh. It was evil. Yet so well written that I couldn't help but love it so much. The ending is pretty happy, though, ack. Which is why I worry about book two. Hmph. But so, so excited to start it next. But seriously, read this book right now if you haven't yet. Flashfall is perfection.

In My Mailbox #297

This week have been good and bad. Health is sort of okay; just got my regular medicine this Thursday, so hoping to feel lots better in a short time. Just dreading next Friday, as that is surgery day, and it shall be awful. Ahh. I hope healing doesn't take more than a few days. Oh, I'm worried about it. Sigh. Got some gorgeous mail this week, though :D Yay. Some is still missing, as the mail didn't arrive on Friday, not sure why, hmph. Rude. But next week it will get here, so yay. I also read two books this week. Re-read of The Forgetting. <3 My precious. Loved it so. But didn't love the companion book, sobs. Reading more this coming week; though the sun is finally coming back, after this whole week with rain and cold. So will be spending a lot of time outside. Yay. Didn't blog that much this week, but still a few posts. Posted my Book Recommendation of The Forgetting. <3 This week I'm waiting on Quests for Glory :D 300th post. Yay. And then I posted my review of The Knowing :) I also went to the cinema twice this week; I saw the new Spider Man, which was awesome, yet a bit boring too. But love the actors/characters. Especially Tony and Pepper. Eee. Then I saw Despicable Me 3, which was adorable. Loved it. Anyway. Good week :)

Because You Love To Hate Me. Yay both editions :D I cannot wait to read these stories. So so so excited.
The Savage Dawn. Curious to know how this trilogy ends :) Enjoyed book one, disliked book two. Ahh.
Now I Rise. Still so sad that I didn't like this book much. Sobs. But still. This UK edition of it is so pretty.
Blood For Blood. New UK paperback edition of this lovely thing. Adored this heartbreaking book so much.
Lyra's Oxford. Lovely new CD audiobook of this short stunning tale :D Must have all the new editions, hih.
7 ARCs. Oh god. Ahhh :D This was the best package. <3 Eee. Thank you so so much for trading with my Bridget :D You are amazing. I love these so, so much. Eee, I now have ARCs of Ashes + Shadows + Monster; the whole trilogy. <3 And ahh, both Traitor ARCs :D So so happy. And now I own every ARC by Lish too, and oh, I love them. So much. These books are all precious. Love all my ARCs the most. Eee.

Invictus. Eee! Managed to get this one from Netgalley :D And I am so so excited about it. Wishing for the print ARC too, though. <3 But will be reading this one soonish, and I cannot wait for it. Just hoping that I will love it lots.

Review: The Knowing by Sharon Cameron

I have been so excited to read this book for ages now. Because I loved The Forgetting so much. I'm still a bit sad that this wasn't a direct sequel, aw. Instead it was a companion book, set around four hundred years in the future. I had hoped to love this just as much as I loved the first one. But oh, I did not. And I feel so sad.

Don't know where to begin. There were parts of this book that I enjoyed a lot. I loved how it was set in the same place as book one. With a lot of the same things, even though this is far in the future. But there were also a lot of things I didn't like about this book. Aw. Because of that, this ended up as a three star for me.

Which makes me incredibly sad. Because I really hoped and thought that I would love this book to pieces. Hmph. And I am heartbroken that I didn't. I am not sure how it was possible that this book was so very different from the first one. I just re-read The Forgetting. And I loved it beyond words. It was so beautiful. Yet the moment I started this companion book, I noticed a ton of differences. The writing was different too. I never fully connected with any of the characters. And that was so disappointing. Ugh. I'm not sure why it was so much different from the first book. But it was. This book is told from two point of views. Samara and Beckett. A chapter each. This change I did like, though, so yay. Mostly loved these two characters too. More on that shortly.

But this book wasn't all bad. Three stars is still good. I will be talking more about some things that I didn't like soon, aw, but will mention first some more things that I did enjoy. Because for the most part I did like this book. I just wanted so much more from it. Anyway. I adore this world the most. So interesting to read more about this whole place, and how it has changed these past years. And get to read more about the Forgetting trees too, and how people are still affected by all of this. I loved that. A lot of it was so exciting.

But, well. The biggest reason for why I didn't love this book was the chapters written from Samara. I really did like getting to know her. She was amazing to read about, and I found her to be pretty adorable. And I wanted to know more personal things about her. Hmph. But, yeah. The way the book was written from her point of view was so annoying. Because Samara is different. She's a Knowing. And so she Knows almost everything. And that word is with a big letter all the time and so often. It got to be too much. Aw.

But I will say that it was interesting to get to know about these new types of people. To read about all the things that Samara had to relive in her head, like she just learned and watched it all for the first time. It was a bit heartbreaking, yet I didn't care too much, aw. But it was interesting to read about, even so. To learn why only some people were Knowing. And how they were thought to be special because of this. Even though a lot of those like this ended up killing themselves. It was a bit brutal. Yet fascinating too.

This book tells the story of Samara and Beckett. Beckett just arrived to this planet from Earth. He and his parents are looking for evidence of what happened to the first people that got sent to this planet, many years earlier. And so Beckett and another girl his age, Jillian, have left their spaceship to look for clues. And, yeah. I had so many issues with Jillian. Which was depressing. She and Beck was supposed to be a couple, but he felt nothing for her. Yet she is a bit jealous and bitter and mean through this whole book.

There were some characters in this book that I just felt had no purpose. Jillian was one of those. She was there just to annoy me. Hmph. Sure, I guess she was important, but I did not like her. No love triangle, not really, just annoying for me. Hmph. Oh, and another boy that was in love with Samara. Sigh. No feelings from her, but he was a creep, and that annoyed me too. No drama like that in The Forgetting. Aw. I feel a bit sad that this book wasn't as perfect, and that I didn't enjoy it as much as I loved the first book. Sniffs.

I'm not sure what I wish to share about The Knowing. I enjoyed parts of the plot a lot. I did like reading about Beckett and Samara. I liked reading about their romance. But I also felt like this book was so much lesser that The Forgetting. And that makes me sad. I really enjoyed the peeks at the past, but those were few. And not what I really wanted. Aw. I hope there will be short stories, one day, about what happened with Nadia and Gray. I want that. I want that very, very much. Because I missed them like crazy in this.

I do think you should all read this book, though. Yet only if you have read The Forgetting. Because while this isn't a direct sequel, only a companion, it do take place in the same place, same world, same type of plot. And it would be much easier to understand things if you have read The Forgetting first. Plus, that book was awesome. I'm sorry that I didn't love this book more. Aw. But yeah, it just wasn't fully for me. But so curious to know what others will think. Thank you so so much sweet person for this precious ARC.

Book Recommendation: The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron

I'm so, so happy that I finally re-read this precious book. I first read it in September last year, and I have been wanting to read it again ever since. Especially once I found out there would be a companion book coming out this year. And when I managed to get hold of an ARC of that one, eee, I simply couldn't resist reading this book again. And oh, how I'm glad that I did so. Because I still love this book. So much. It's stunning. It's rude. It's perfection. And it has the cutest romance. And most evil plot. It's all very exciting.

There is so much that I love about The Forgetting. I'm not going to talk too much about it this time, but I do need to share again about how much I love this book. Which is a lot. It just makes me so happy. Sigh. Yet also sad, because I wish the companion book had been a direct sequel. Hmph. Because I want more of Nadia and Gray so, so much. If you haven't read this book yet, you are seriously missing out. Because it's the best. And you are going to love it beyond words. Like I have. Twice, now. And more times later on.

The Forgetting tells the story of Nadia, the dyer's daughter. And Gray, the glassblower's son. The whole book is told from the point of view of Nadia, which I loved so much. This girl is amazing. And I love how she was curious about things, how she wanted to change things, and fix things. I loved how much she changed in this book as well. She used to almost never talk to anyone, never spend time with anyone. But she gets better at all of that through this book. She opens up more. She's more happy. I loved it so.

And oh, how I loved getting to know Nadia. She's so interesting and I loved reading everything her. And everything about her past too. Some things were a bit sad to read about, aw, but written so well. Sigh. And ahh, her family. Her mother was not okay. And that just broke my heart. Her twelve year old little sister was beyond adorable. And oh, how I loved reading about her again. But her other sister, whom is older, I think, was not the best to read about at first. Hmph. But she gets better too, and I loved that so.

And ahh, Gray. I loved this boy beyond words. He was so sweet and fun and amazing. I loved how he and Nadia started to become friends. Started talking and hanging out and breaking the law together. And loved how they got to be more than friends too. Oh, this romance killed me with how amazing it was. Eee. Wish there had been even more kissing, but there didn't need to be. Because there was some, and they were beyond perfect. This romance is the best. No drama. No love triangles. No arguing. It was so sweet.

There is so much I love about this book. Won't mention it all. But oh, it's so good. Nadia lives in the city of Canaan. This place is all they know; they never leave the walls around their town. But Nadia does leave the wall. For hours. Without finding anyone or anything else. I loved reading about her leaving the wall. So awesome. But anyway. This city. It is ruled by Janis, this old woman. And oh, how I hated her. I hated her more than I can say. But she was an really awesomely written villain. And so evil. So yay for that, lol.

For as long as it has been written down, everyone in this city has been losing all their memories every twelve years. Complete losses. It was heartbreaking to read about. Because so many other awful things happened too. And it was so sad. Ahh. But so interesting as well. They all write in books, writing down their truth and everything they know about themselves for those twelve years, before they forget again. It was so fascinating to read about. Written so well. Especially because Nadia never forgot. Eee. Loved it.

I'm not going to say more about this precious thing. Already said so much, again, lol. Just that it is beyond amazing. I love it to pieces. And I know that I will read it again and again. Eee. I will never not love this book. The plot is the most exciting thing. So many secrets and surprises. It was exciting and interesting at every moment. So much to know. Loved it so. And the romance. Again, perfection. And so many other interesting characters too. Oh, this book means so much to me. Again, if you haven't read it, do so now.
