Book Collection #31

31st week of my new Book Collection posts. I will be doing this every Friday. And I am loving it. I own so many amazing books, and I love that I get to share my collection of many of them. I will be posting all my collections randomly, but I love them all. I hope you will all enjoy these posts of mine. Would love to know if you have any collections like mine; if you own and love these books too. Let me know. I love my books.

Books by Melina Marchetta

I adore this author. And I love my collection of her books. Eee. I have read all of these. And adored them all. I'm still missing some of her books, ack, and I must be getting them one day. I forgot when I took this picture that I'm getting her newest adult book in just a short moment. Ack. But yeah, getting that one too, and I'm so excited to read it. Melina is amazing. And her books are written really well. But gosh, I feel like it is forever since I read them all. I must re-read the Finnikin books and Jellicoe Road soon. I love them.

Waiting on Wednesday #259

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

THE VALIANT BY LESLEY LIVINGSTON

Goodreads Description:

Lost to history, the story of the female gladiator has never been told. Until now.

Fallon is the daughter of a proud Celtic king and the younger sister of the legendary warrior Sorcha. When Fallon was just a child, Sorcha was killed while defending their home from the armies of Julius Caesar.

On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Fallon is excited to follow in her sister's footsteps and earn her place in her father's war band. She never gets the chance.

Fallon is captured by ruthless brigands who sell her to an elite training school for female gladiators owned by none other than Julius Caesar himself. In a cruel twist of fate, the man who destroyed Fallon s family might be her only hope of survival.
Now, Fallon must overcome vicious rivalries, deadly fights in and out of the arena, and perhaps the most dangerous threat of all: her irresistible feelings for Cai, a young Roman soldier and her sworn enemy.

A richly imagined fantasy for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Cinda Williams Chima, "The Valiant" recounts Fallon s gripping journey from fierce Celtic princess to legendary gladiator and darling of the Roman empire."

Review: Glitter by Aprilynne Pike

I feel so disappointed. And a bit sad and a bit angry too. This book looks so gorgeous. And I had really hoped that I would enjoy it. If not love it, at least like it. Instead I just about hated it. And I'm giving it only one star. Which doesn't happen all too often. But is always so depressing when it does happen. Sigh.

But it can't be helped with this book. Because it was awful. Just simply truly bad. I had to force myself to finish it. To even read more than just the beginning. I didn't even like the prologue. Ugh. I wish I could have liked some parts of this book, but I didn't even do that. Even the romance was crappy. I'm just so disappointed.

I had really hoped to love this one. Since I have the gorgeous print ARC of this precious looking book. But yeah. Probably getting rid of that one, as I'm never reading this book again. But gosh, it really is gorgeous. That cover is simply stunning. Sadly, the book inside was not. Hmph. And then when I read about the main character, how her skin was olive and her hair dark, I grew to dislike the cover. Cover girl has blond hair and blue eyes. Main character in book does not. Not anyone who looks like the cover girl. And that just makes me even more disappointed. Sigh. There were just so, so many things about this book that I did not like. Shall try to explain why. Sadly, I wouldn't suggest that anyone read this book. Though I'm sure some will love it.

The setting in this book was really weird, to be honest. I thought that maybe it could be awesome, but it wasn't, not for me. Maybe because I didn't like the writing at all. Or because I almost hated the main girl. Shrugs. Main girl, aka Danica, lives in a palace. There they live like it is hundreds of years earlier. As in, they dress like that and act like that. For the most part. The rules aren't the same. And they have some really weird tech. I wish that the past they tried to live in had been written better; could have been good.

Outside their palace is the modern world, or whatever. It's supposed to be set some years in our future. We didn't get to read much about this modern world at all, which was disappointing. Because I didn't care about the palace at all. Danica is seventeen years old. Though for the most part she just acts like she's fourteen or younger. She's sort of childish and so selfish and a bad friend too. Her friends all seemed so amazing. Yet she treated them all so badly and I just grew so sick of her. She was not a good person.

Danica feels like she has a horrible life. Her mom has been trying to move them up in social standings for four years now. And so Danica has had a nose job and done many other things to hide her natural self, or whatever. I did not like reading about that. At all. Danica just seemed fake. It was so often mentioned how huge her breasts were. Highly annoying. She also tightens her corsets so so much that she is always in pain and has the smallest waist. I didn't understand her reason for why she did that. She made no sense.

Anyway. Her horrible life. Some weeks before the book begins, she saw the young king have sex with a girl while strangling her, ending with her dead. Danica did nothing. She let her mom blackmail the king into marrying Danica, which he did not want to do. Neither did she. Yet she did nothing about it. It made no sense to me at all. It's supposed to have been a really traumatic moment, or whatever, but while her mom is selling her to the king, she is standing there looking at how low his pants are hanging. Ugh.

It is supposed to seem that the king, two years older than Danica, is supposed to be such a horrible person. Sadistic and mean and just so awful. Yet he didn't really seem that way at all. Sure, he could be truly mean sometimes, but he truly wasn't that bad. Not at all. And I did not see why Danica was so set against marrying him, against becoming queen. Made no sense. Well, okay, I didn't care for the king at all, and I sort of hated him, and I would never ship them, but he was not the horrible person she claimed.

This book is about Danica wanting to escape her upcoming wedding happening when she turns eighteen. She tries to run away. It doesn't work. So she's told she has to give a man tons of money, and he will get her out. Her way to get that money was to start selling drugs to almost everyone in the palace. Drugs that would make them all addicted. Drugs that could kill them all, if they take a little bit too much. It even does kill someone. Yet Danica doesn't seem to care. At all. She just cares about herself, about getting away.

Sigh. This girl bothered me so much. Even when two people who were close to her died. I felt nothing. Not a single thing. Her grief, or whatever, felt so fake to me. And I hated reading about it. Sigh. I just did not like this girl. I did not like this book. And the plot was pretty boring. And long. Mostly about living in the palace, dressing up, dressing down, and blah blah blah. It got to be boring. Nothing exciting happened. I kept waiting and waiting for something. Hmph. I just feel so disappointed. Book could have been good.

Sure, there is a bit of romance in this book. But I feel like I should mention that it was awful. First of, the names in this book are so silly. I have already managed to forget the boy's name, haha. But it was bad. I didn't get why they got together at all. First time she seems him, she gets this want. This need to touch him. And oh my god. It was the silliest thing. And then. They kiss. After she is assaulted by the king. They have their first kiss, and they have sex at the same time. I think. It was never explained. Poor writing.

Okay. I have already said too much about this book, without truly mentioning much of the plot at all, lol. I was just so disappointed by all of it. Nothing truly happened. The ending was sort of good, I'm curious about book two, but it did not make me like this book. At all. All that happens is Danica wanting to escape her wedding. It's about planning the wedding. Selling drugs to people who doesn't know it. Silly romance that made no sense at all. Ugh. This book was just not good. And I'm just glad to be done with it. Sadly.

Book Collection #30

30th week of my new Book Collection posts.

This series is so so amazing. I adored the first two books the very most. Eee. Though I have yet to read book three, The Bronze Key. Ack. But I will be doing so very soon. And I'm so excited to read it. This middle grade series will be five books. And I cannot wait to get the rest of them. I simply love my huge collection of these books so much. Eee. I have them all. Most likely. Pretty sure there were only ARCs of the first two books, and now I have them both, and that just makes me so happy. One day I'm hoping to get some of these books personalized to me. Anyway. I adore these two authors. They are both amazing. Also. I should mention that my full Cassie collection is huge. Sharing that one day, I think. I adore them.

Review: The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron

I'm so happy with this book. Eee. I had such high hopes for it, despite not really knowing anything about it, lol. And I'm thrilled to say that this book was perfection. I'm so glad that I loved it. I just loved everything about it. Sigh. I wish that it had been a little bit longer, because I always want more, but I loved the ending.

The writing in this book was just gorgeous. I have only read one book by this author before, Rook, which I also adored. But this one I loved so much. Eee. I think I must now read her two earlier books too. And gosh, I cannot wait to read what she writes next. I just. Gah. I really hope that there might be a sequel to this one.

Because I would read that in a heartbeat. The Forgetting was such an incredible book. And I shall never forget it. I hope, lol. I know that I will re-read it, though. Because this book was simply amazing. There are amazing characters. The story is so exciting. The romance was the sweetest. There is no love triangle of any kind. There was no stupid drama. Gosh. It was just everything I wanted it to be. I do wish there had been a few more kisses, hih, but I did love the romance. It was so sweet and just amazing. This book is pretty dark at times, which was awesome. It is full of surprises. Which I loved very much. A few things I had guessed, but most were a total surprise. Which was just all kinds of fun. I just really loved the story in this one. At all times. So good.

I'm not sure how to describe this book. But I shall try, without sharing spoilers, because some things you should not know before starting the book. The Forgetting is told from the point of view of Nadia. Whom I adored the most. She's such an amazing girl. She lives with her mom and her younger and older sisters. I adored her twelve year old sister so much. Eee. She was adorable. Her older sister not so much, though, lol. But I think I grew to like her too. She was just mean at first. Hmph. But also interesting to read about.

Nadia lives in a town with walls. They are always inside the walls, going outside is forbidden, because it's dangerous. I felt like they lived in simple ways, so it felt like the book was set way back in time. But gosh, I loved reading about how they all lived. It was such an interesting town. Though the council was not very nice at all. Hmph. Though not that bad either, not until later. There is just so much to know. So many secrets that needs to come out. And it was all the most exciting to read about. I loved this book so much.

The thing about this town is that every twelve years they all forget every single thing about their life. It's like they start a new one every twelve years. It's been like this forever. No one remembers anything. Except for Nadia. She remembers everything that happened before the Forgetting. And it is not nice things she remembers at all. Shudders. This town was pretty awful. The people were pretty awful too. Hmph. But Nadia was the best. Fierce and loving. Shy and sweet. I simply adored getting to know her.

What I also really loved about this town is how everyone is carrying a book everywhere. Their own book, where they write down everything that happens to them each day. So that when they forget everything about themselves, they can read their book to know who they were, despite never remembering any of it again. Ack. Yeah. The story in this book was pretty heartbreaking, to be honest. But I loved every single moment of it. The story was so unique and interesting with the people forgetting so often. And different.

Nadia hasn't talked much to anyone for the last twelve years. But then she starts seeing Gray. They start hanging out, and she talks to him so much, and he finds out just about all her secrets right away, which I really loved, lol. Though she wasn't ready at first for a relationship. And so she and Gray are friends for weeks first, before anything happen. And sigh. I loved reading about their friendship. I loved how it got to be more than that, how they fell for each other. These two were simply the most amazing. Eee. Cutest.

I'm not going to say too much about this book. Because I don't want to spoil anything. And because it is so difficult sometimes to talk about books that I love so much. Which I did with this one. There are so many mysteries in this book. They were all so exciting. Yet most of the secrets were awful. Hmph. Yet I couldn't help but love it all. So much bad happens in this book. A lot of people get hurt. Yet this book is also so happy at times and gaaah. I loved it so much. I really want a sequel to it. I very much need it.

The Forgetting was everything I wished it to be. The romance was stunning. The plot was so exciting. And the writing was gorgeous. Sigh. I'm so glad I read this book right now. The story about Nadia and Gray was so so amazing. And I want more. So much more. The ending was so exciting, and good, and heartbreaking, and I loved it the most. But still want more, lol. I would suggest that you all read this book. Right away. It's so gorgeous and so much fun and so evil. The boy and the girl was the best. Go read it.

Autumn

Today I just had to share a few autumn pictures that I took of my gorgeous cat. She is now more than three and a half years old. She's a Silver Shaded Persian girl. Named Anastasia, though I never use any name for her, lol. I share a bunch of pictures of her on my Instagram, as she is just the cutest thing. Sigh. I adore my girl the most. She isn't very cuddly, though. Aw. But she isn't mean, so forced cuddling still happens, haha :D Anyway. A few days ago I took her outside to take some autumn photos, as the trees are now starting to get bare already. Sobs. But yeah. I managed to take a whole bunch of pictures of her, eee. So sharing some of them here :D Do you have a cat or any other animals? Is it fall yet for you? :)

The story. And all the artwork too. Eee. I'm so thrilled about this one. I have read every book by Marissa. Except for Heartless, sobs, as I haven't gotten an ARC of that one. Aw. But I will be getting all the finished copies, so yay :) I also blog a bunch about all these books, hih. And my collection is so huge. Ahh. I just love them so much. Review: The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart by Lauren DeStefano

Sigh. This book was good. It was so, so good. I knew I would love it, because I have loved every book I have read by Lauren so far. Her first middle grade book from last year was simply stunning. And this one was even more so. Eee. It was just so amazing. I only wish that it had been longer. Sobs. I wanted more so badly.

The writing is gorgeous, and the story was so exciting. I loved the characters so much. Sniffs. And gosh, that cover. It's stunning. I love it so much. Wish there had been artwork inside the book too, but I'm okay with there not being so, lol. Because the words were enough. Sigh. This book was just so amazing. So happy I read it.

This book was just so beautiful. I don't know what else to say about it, lol. Getting to read about Lionel and Marybeth was simply the best thing. This is a short book and a really quick read. I loved every moment of it. These two middle grade books by Lauren are pretty dark. And I love that so much. Because they are pretty real. Brutal and honest. Which I love. My poor boy had suffered. Sniffs. And I loved reading about it all. Ahh. While I wish that this book had been a sequel to her first middle grade story, hih, I'm glad that it wasn't. It had nothing to do with her first story. But it was just as amazing. I still hope for sequels to them both one day. I want that very much. I also really loved that this book wasn't fully real, because there are ghosts. Which was awesome to read.

I'm not going to talk too much about this book. Because it is really short. And I'm not sure I have all the words I need to write my thoughts down. Because, gosh, I really loved this book. A few times I struggled a little bit with the writing, but only in the beginning, and I grew to adore the writing. Never once did I not love Lionel and Marybeth. Sigh. It was just the best thing to read about them both. I just so wish the book had been a little bit longer. Or that there will be a sequel when they are older. Aw. Loved them so much.

Lionel and Marybeth are both nine years old. They live at an orphanage. And they are the best of friends. Though their friendship is a bit unusual, with Marybeth being a sort of normal child. And Lionel being all kinds of wild. But they still love each other. And they are all each other have. Which is just the sweetest thing. Eee. I really want to read about them being older. Hmph. Their friendship now is just the best thing. The others don't understand Lionel. But Marybeth do. Sort of. He is normal too, just a little bit broken.

And I'm not saying more than that. Lionel was such a sweet boy. Though he truly was wild at times. But I adored that about him. And I didn't blame him one bit. He was the best boy. And I loved Marybeth too. She was so gentle and kind and awesome. She changes a bit, but I still adored her the most. And Lionel did too. They are such awesome friends. And I loved getting to know both their stories. I just wish it had been a bit longer, so that I could have known more. But I did get to know enough. Which was awesome.

There are a few other characters in this book. I liked reading about them all. A few were pretty awful, though. Shudders. Like when we got to know something that happened in the past. Ahh. It was horrible. I loved it. There is an older woman that takes care of all the children. And I liked her quite a lot. Though some times she made some horrible decisions. Which ruined my heart a little. Sobs. Yet I couldn't truly blame her either. Maybe. I'm unsure. I did not approve, either way. But even so. I did like this woman.

I'm not going to talk about the plot. Just know that there is sort of a mystery. And it was so exciting to figure it out. Most of this book was sad. Yet the friendship was so beautiful. And the story was amazing too. I really, really loved The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart. This book was so, so heartbreaking and beautiful. The friendship between Lionel and Marybeth was the sweetest. Sigh. I would say that everyone should read this book. It is dark and awesome and real. I just. Yeah. I really want more. Fingers crossed.

Review: Nemesis by Anna Banks

So happy to have finally read this book. I adore Anna. And I have wanted to read this new book of hers for ages now. Eee. It just looks so awesome and sounds so good. I'm so happy to say that I liked it oh so much. It's a four star for me. The writing was just awesome and easy to read. The story was so incredible as well.

I shall try to share all my feelings about this book. But it already feels a bit difficult, lol. I just enjoyed this book a bunch. And the characters were all so interesting to read about. I loved that the book is written from the point of view of Tarik and Sepora, one chapter each. I simply loved Tarik the very most. He's the best.

The world that Anna has created in this book was just stunning. I loved reading about the different kingdoms and the people and how they all acted and such. I just, ah. I very much want a map of this world, lol. It would be awesome. But yeah. I loved reading this story. I loved this world. I loved how there are creatures in it too. Like huge cats. Those were awesome. And the water ones too. Shudders. They were awful yet so interesting to read about. And the flying dragon creatures. Eee. They have no feet. No claws. So interesting. They seemed pretty adorable. And I loved the things some of them could do. Yeah. I love when there are awesome creatures in books, lol. Sepora is sort of a creature too. Well, okay, not really. But she do have awesome powers.

I'm not going to describe things that happen in this book. Or how the people are living. Just. It is the story of Tarik and Sepora. Tarik is a king. His father just died of a new illness, that is now killing tons of other people. Sepora is a princess of another kingdom, and she is running away, because of her powers. And her father has been using her all her life. Sort of. I just really enjoyed reading about both these two main characters. I loved learning about their past. I loved reading about their adventures. It was a bunch of fun.

Until they met each other. Sigh. Though I must say that I ship them oh so much. But mostly I just want Tarik to be happy, and want Sepora to change who she is, haha. More on that later. But yeah. I did love reading about Tarik and Sepora together. I loved how he fell in love with her. He was too adorable. But oh. He has a younger brother, who wants Sepora too. It was not a triangle. But there is jealousy, and I didn't like that one bit. Aw. But even so, I did like his brother. Mostly. He was pretty interesting to know.

I'm not sure how to talk about this book. There is so much happening. And I just do not feel like talking about it at all, haha. So I'm not really going to. Just know that the plot is interesting and lots of fun to read about. Mostly I just adored Tarik. He is such an amazing person and an amazing king. And so sweet too. Sigh. I did like Sepora as well, in the beginning. Then she changed, and my feelings for her changed. I just hope she's better in book two. Fingers crossed. But anyway. There are a few awesome characters.

I'm not sure how to talk about this one part. The reason for why I didn't fully love the book. See, I had some issues with Sepora. While I loved her, I hated how she treated Tarik most of the time. She seems to think that he must obey her in everything, agree with everything she thinks. He is a king. He does not answer to her. He cannot. But she doesn't see that. And so she's angry with him all the time. And she talks to him the wrong way all the time. She pretends to be a servant. He is a king. She should be killed.

But she is not. And I cannot understand why at all. Sepora was mean towards Tarik so, so often. She speaked wrongfully to the king all the time. Tarik was the most amazing king. He cared for his people. He did everything for his people. And Sepora is punishing him for it. Saying he did it to hurt her, and blah blah blah. I'm upset about it. She does not deserve his love. Hmph. It isn't even better at the end of the book. It is worse. She betrays him. Time and again. Yet she acts like he betrayed her. I'm so bitter, tbh.

Okay. I think I have talked just about enough about this book, lol. I was so angry with Sepora at times. But other times I really did love her. She was just really selfish. Sigh. Tarik was awesome, though, and so he made me really love the book. I cannot wait to read more about him. Eee. I am so excited for book two. I found Nemesis to be such an exciting book with a stunning world. I adored most of the characters. I really loved the story. And I simply cannot wait to read the next book. I really think you should all read this one.

Book Collection #29

29th week of my new Book Collection posts.

Books by Elizabeth May.

This collection of mine only contains two books. But they are two amazing ones. Sigh. I simply adored these two books. The story is so incredible and the characters are awesome. The romance is perfection. Eee. But gosh, those cliffhanger endings are the worst. I cannot wait to read book three. Hopefully it will be out very soon. So excited. I also adore Elizabeth. She's amazing. I don't own any signed books by her yet, but one day, hopefully. I'm missing both ARCs, but hoping to get them someday too. Love my books.

Review: The Crimson Skew by S. E. Grove

This final book was so exciting. I'm so happy that I decided to read this trilogy right now. I simply adored all three books. So much. They are all four stars for me, but that doesn't mean that I don't love them. Because I do. Theo and Sophia have such a special place in my heart now. Sigh. They are simply the bestest.

I shall try my best to share my feelings about this final book. But it might be a bit difficult. Because I loved it a whole bunch. But I was also a little bit disappointed by one thing. But for the most part this book was amazing. And I loved the ending. And I just don't feel like it is the end for these characters. Eee. Well, I hope.

And so I am crossing all my fingers that there will be new books about Sophia and Theo. I think there will be. It seemed like it at the end of the book. Despite this being only a trilogy. But yeah. I think there will be more. Oh gosh, I hope there will be more. Because I really need more. It would be so awesome. And I would read more books in a heartbeat. But anyway. Enough about that. The writing in this one is also gorgeous. Though the writing have been a bit difficult at times, which makes me think it might be harder for younger readers. Ack. But it is such an amazing story. Sigh. Amazing for all ages. I simply adore the covers for these books. They are so gorgeous. And fitting too. So sad that there weren't any art inside the book too, lol.

But there are maps in them all. And ahh. These maps are gorgeous. Having maps in books is the best. And these were just so awesome. I also loved that before each chapter there are things written by the characters, from books and such they have published. Mostly by Shadrack. It was interesting. Though I did have some trouble paying attention to them all, lol. But I did love reading them. There is just so much happening at all times. I won't mention it all. Mostly Sophia and Theo point of view, but there are others.

This story is for the most part about Sophia, and her adventure. But it is also about so much else. And about so many other characters too. Because Sophia meets so many on her travels. Which was just awesome. I loved getting to know so many new characters. In this book and the previous ones. Though, well, I mostly wanted to only read about Sophia and Theo, lol. But I did adore all the other characters too. Casanova was a big favorite in this one. He was just awesome and such an amazing friend. Loved him.

I'm not going to say much about the plot in this book. Just know that it is awesome. Mostly focused on the war that is happening, and how to stop that. But it is still about Sophia. And about her journey to find her missing parents. Sniffs. We finally get even more answers about that. Which was pretty heartbreaking and amazing to read about. I will also say that these books have been a lot about political things. With people in charge making wars for stupid reasons. But yeah, it was all really interesting to read about.

The villain in these last two books was a bit different. I didn't really fear him at all. Mostly I just disliked him, lol. And I wanted him murdered. Hmph. My wish did not come true. How rude. I just really didn't like reading about this man. And learning about his past. I felt like maybe he could have been a bit more awful, as I felt like the ending with him was pretty tame. Yet still good. But yeah. I wanted this person to suffer, because of how he treated Theo when he was younger. And it hurts me that he did not suffer.

I can't help but mention something. Aw. The reason for why I didn't fully love this book, was because Theo and Sophia were apart for most of it. Sigh. Just like in book two. And I feel a bit bitter about it. I wanted to read about them together. I wanted their friendship to grow into something more. But I did not get that. Not at all. Sigh. They are together for a bit in this one, and I did love those moments the very most. But I feel like this book ended without making their relationship clear. And I'm not okay with that.

So yeah. I really need an answer to that. Which is why I really want more books about these precious characters, lol. Because oh. I ship Sophia and Theo the very most. Aw. They are just the bestest of friends. And I love how they fit together. Though there are no romance between them in this book, I did feel that there were a few hints about it. But I need to know for sure. Sniffs. Because this other girl in book two seemed to have started to fall for him. Hmph. Do not approve. That makes me worry too much, haha.

Anyway. I'm not going to say much more. I loved this book. I loved this story oh so much. I felt like the ending was pretty awesome, but I need more. There is room for more. I loved reading about what Sophia and what Theo were doing at all times, and how it all ended. The Crimson Skew was such an exciting book. And I loved reading it a whole bunch. The adventure was just the most fun. I loved getting to read about so many new things. I just. Yeah. I'm so glad I read this trilogy. These books are simply amazing.

Waiting on Wednesday #257

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

THE WISH GRANTER BY C. J. REDWINE

Goodreads Description:

An epic fantasy inspired by the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale, about a bastard princess who must take on an evil fae to save her brother’s soul, from the New York Times bestselling author of The Shadow Queen.

The world has turned upside down for Thad and Ari Glavan, the bastard twins of Súndraille’s king. Their mother was murdered. The royal family died mysteriously. And now Thad sits on the throne of a kingdom whose streets are suddenly overrun with violence that he can’t stop.

Growing up ignored by the nobility, Ari never wanted to be a proper princess. And when Thad suddenly starts training Ari to take his place, she realizes that her brother’s ascension to the throne wasn’t fate. It was the work of a Wish Granter named Alistair Teague, who tricked Thad into wishing away both the safety of his people and his soul in exchange for the crown.

So Ari recruits the help of Thad’s enigmatic new weapons master, Sebastian Vaughn, to teach her how to fight Teague. With secret ties to Teague’s criminal empire, Sebastian might just hold the key to discovering Alistair’s weaknesses, saving Ari’s brother—and herself.

But Teague is ruthless and more than ready to destroy anyone who dares stand in his way—and now he has his sights set on the princess. And if Ari can’t outwit him, she’ll lose Sebastian, her brother...and her soul.

Review: The Golden Specific by S. E. Grove

Finally got to read this gorgeous second book in this trilogy. I'm so happy to say that I liked it oh so much. For the most part I loved it. But I had one issue. So I'm giving this book four stars. But gosh, it was pretty amazing. So glad I managed to read this one, finally. Like book one, writing is so gorgeous and amazing.

The characters are just written so well and they are all so much fun to get to know. Though there are a bunch of new ones in this book. But yeah. I did love getting to know them all. Sort of. Mostly I just loved reading about Sophia and Theo, and wanted to read more about them, all the time. But I liked the others too.

I feel like I must mention that the reason for why I didn't fully love this book was because Sophia and Theo are not together for just about all of it. Sigh. The share this one gorgeous hug. But then they are apart for the rest of the book. Sobs. Made me so sad. Because they were amazing to read about together in book one. And I have heard that they aren't together for most of book three too, and that just stresses me out. Hmph. But still. I'm so excited for it. But yeah. It was pretty upsetting that they weren't with each other in this book. Aw. Because they are the greatest of friends. And I wanted to read more about them being together. And growing closer too. Hmph. But even though this made me so sad, I still really loved reading the book.

I'm unsure about what I wish to share about this book. It is so long. And took me some time to finish. But that was a good thing. Because so much happen. And it is all so exciting. Eee. I just, yeah, I wish Sophia and Theo were together in this one. Hmph. But one good thing about them not being together is that we get both their point of views. Eee. Which was just the most awesome thing. I loved reading about Theo. I loved learning new things about him. I just really need Sophia to know those things about him too. Gah.

Most of this book is told from Sophia and Theo. But is it written in a different way too, and a little bit from other characters as well. I liked that. Though I did prefer Sophia and Theo. There are also a few pages of a diary from years back, written by Sophia's mother before she went missing. And gosh. Those pages were so interesting to read. Though the writing was a bit worse. But so interesting. I was dying to know what would happen to that couple. Sniffs. And yeah. I got to know all of it. So heartbreaking and exciting.

I'm not sure how to describe the plot in this book. Because there is so much of it. It takes place a year after book one. And so Sophia is now fourteen years old. I'm still unsure how old Theo is, because it has never been mentioned. But he is supposed to be a few years older than her. I think. Most likely. Anyway, though. These two characters are simply the best. Sophia is just amazing. And getting to know her more is the best. Sigh. She's so kind and so smart. And Theo. My love. So many secrets. And I loved them all.

But yeah. This book is also a bit sad. Because some heartbreaking things happens. Not much death, though, so that was a plus, lol. But other things were so sad. Like learning Theo's past. It was so exciting to know more about him. And I need to know even more. But it was also pretty awful to read about. My poor boy. Sigh. He is my favorite. Aw. Another sad part was learning what happened to Sophia's parents. Because we do learn that. Well, most of it. And oh gosh. It was pretty awful and interesting and I loved it.

With all those new characters, I have to mention a few of them. Theo gets to know a little boy, Winnie. He was so adorable. But Theo also gets to know a girl. Hmph. Nettie. I'm unsure about her. I ship Sophia and Theo more than anything. If this girl messes that up, I'm going to be so upset. Sigh. She would be such an amazing friend, though, cause she's awesome. Sophia also meets new people. Like Errol. He was pretty awesome. And Goldenrod. She was so sweet too. And I really did love getting to know all of them.

I think that is all I wish to share about this one. It is full of adventure. Sophia travels a bunch, and sees so many new and scary places. I loved it. Theo stays at home, doing so many interesting and dangerous things. Ack. That ending was so mean. I'm so nervous and excited for book two. I also just love how gorgeous this cover is. I just wish the jacket cover had been made like the hardcover of book one, lol, because that one was so unique and gorgeous. Aw. Oh, well. This cover art is still beyond gorgeous.

Book Collection #28

28th week of my new Book Collection posts.

Books by Jay Kristoff.

This collection of mine is books that are only written by Jay. Considering my Illuminae collection is all kinds of huge, lol. So I'm doing that one alone. But yeah. I adore Jay. He's amazing. And I love all of his books. And I cannot wait to read everything that he is writing next. Eee. I simply love my collection of his books so much. Missing a few of the audiobooks, though. And don't have two of his earliest ARCs. Aw. Looking for those. And also missing a bunch of swag. And I really want The Little Stormdancer too. Ack. I need. But I do have every single copy of Nevernight, so I'm thrilled about that. Just need a personalized copy too. One day I shall get personalized copies of all his books. Hopefully. All these books are perfect.

Book Recommendation: The Glass Sentence by S. E. Grove

I finally managed to re-read this book. Eee. And I'm so glad I did so. I read it for the first time over two years ago. I liked it a lot back then; and rated it four stars. But gosh. I had forgotten so much since then. Ahh. I didn't realize I had forgotten almost all of the book. Which doesn't really make sense. Hmph. Because this book is awesome and exciting and so much fun to read. It is still a four star for me, but gosh, I adored this book so much. I found the writing to be all kinds of gorgeous and amazing. Loved it.

I don't think I will have all that much to say about this book this time. I just feel like it is so awesome that there is nothing I can say that will be good enough, lol. But I shall try. Because I really liked this book a whole bunch. And I'm so glad I finally re-read it. Though it did take me some days. But worth it. This book never bored me. I was always excited about reading it, about knowing what would happen next. Despite having read it before, lol, because I found that I didn't remember many of the details. Hmph. Only a few.

This book is just all kinds of exciting. It is a fantasy world. With a whole bunch of Ages, a whole bunch of places set in different times. It is possible to travel to them all. And gosh, it was so interesting to read about. A bit confusing at times, but still exciting. I loved reading about all the different Ages. There are also a whole bunch of maps. Made in different ways. Such fun ways to read them too. I loved reading about all of that. This book is also full of adventure. And danger. Which I simply adore. It's so much fun.

This book is mostly told from the point of view of Sophia. Whom I am pretty sure is thirteen years old. Her parents went missing when she was three. I'm very sure it was mentioned often that it was ten years ago. But then I just read the summary of book two, and it says they went missing eight years ago? Ugh. I hope not, because Sophia is just not eleven years old. Hmph. Probably a writing mistake, lol, but also a bit annoying. But aaanyway. Sophia is the most amazing girl. And I loved getting to know her so, so much.

There is just so much to get to know about Sophia. Like how she can't keep time. It was so amazing and heartbreaking too. I loved reading about it. Gosh. So different. And exciting. I loved that she lives with her uncle, whom was awesome. I love how she is waiting for her parents to come home. Aw. I just hope they will too. But yeah. Sophia is all kinds of amazing. And I love that this is her story. I simply cannot wait to get to know her even more. Yay. I found her to be so sweet and kind and loving. She's just the greatest.

There are so many characters in this precious book. And I loved reading about all of them. Ah. Even the bad ones. Shudders. I grew to care for Blanca. I think. Maybe. She was an interesting villain, though. But shudders. I hated what she had done to the Sandmen. How she made them. It was the worst thing. Ahh. But so exciting to read about even so. Ack. I wish for there to be a way to undo it. Fingers crossed. But I doubt it. Sad face. But yeah. Blanca and the Sandmen were pretty interesting to read about. Yet creepy.

Then there were Theo. I loved this boy. So much. I love how he and Sophie meet. How they become friends, though with some issues. It was so exciting to read about. Eee. And I love that there are small hints that it might turn into a romance. Gosh, I hope so. It would be so amazing. Sigh. Theo and Sophia are both amazing. And I loved reading about them both so much. Anyway. There were a bunch of other amazing characters too. Like the pirates. They were all so much fun to read about. Simply adored them.

Gosh. There is so much I wish to mention about this book. I thought I wouldn't write all that much, lol. But I just couldn't help myself. This book is amazing. I adored it oh so much. And so glad I finally got to read it again. Yay. There is just so much amazing happening at all times. There are some amazing creatures in this book. Like the Lachrima. They were beyond awful to read about. But the more I learned about them, the sadder I got. Because the story of those creatures were just all kinds of heartbreaking to know. Ack.

I am once again giving this book four stars. Not because I didn't love it. Because I did. But because I didn't love it that much. I had a few issues. But I'm okay with that. Because this book was still awesome. And I feel that I might enjoy the next two books even more. Eee. I'm so excited to finally get to read them. Sigh. I just. Yeah. I hope for some romance, lol. But either way, I cannot wait. If you still haven't read this stunning middle grade fantasy book, then you really must get started. It is such a good adventure. Eee.
