Review: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

This has been my seventh time reading The Scorpio Races. It is the sixth time that I blog about it, as I didn't do it on my third read, which breaks my heart a bit. Hmph. But even so, I have read this book seven times. And I know I will read it again and again after this. I wish to read this book once a year. Though I always feel like reading it more often than that even. Because this is the best book. My love for it will never go away. I will never not cry at the ending of it. I will never not love it the very most.

It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.

I have written so much about this book already, before. I will probably just end up repeating myself a lot. But I can't help it. I can't not share how much I love this book. And why I love it. And how I will never stop loving it. Sigh. Because this book is perfection. I love every single thing about The Scorpio Races. Okay, well, I'm a bit heartbroken that there isn't a sequel. But I hope it will come one day. And there will be a movie. And it seems like it will be soon. I simply cannot wait for that. I'm so nervous and excited.

The only thing is, the more I see him and Corr together, the more I think of
how unbearable it would be for Sean to lose him. But we can't both win.

The writing in this precious book is simply gorgeous. It never fails to amaze me. I just adore Maggie Stiefvater so much. I have loved all the books I have read by her so far. She's amazing. But yes. The Scorpio Races is my favorite book of hers, always. And Sean Kendrick is my favorite character that she has written. Probably my favorite character from everywhere. I love him the very most. Sigh. Everything about this book is perfection to me. Reading it again and again just makes me love it more and more.

"I don't think I'll stop you," I say. "I think that you will cut my horse and then when
you come out of that stall, I will use this to cut your heart out and hand it to you."

This is a book about horses. But it is more about the characters. I don't even like horses, and I loved this the very most. I loved Dove. And I adored Corr the very most. He is the most amazing horse. I loved how different he was. I loved how much he loved Sean. I loved how adorable he was, despite the fact that he can kill anyone. Basically, I loved everything in this book. The ending is still the most heartbreaking thing. It always makes me cry. But it is also the most perfect. Hopeful. Heartbreaking.

In the middle of all of this, as Sean slips out of his jacket, he looks over his shoulder at me
and he smiles at me, just a glancing, faint thing before he turns back to Tommy. I'm quite happy
for the smile, because Dad told me once you should be grateful for the gifts that are the rarest.

Reading about Puck and Sean again made my heart so happy. They are the most amazing characters. There isn't much romance, but there is a little, and it is the most sweet thing I have read. They are perfect for each other. And I adore them both so much. Sigh. I need a sequel. Hmph. There are so many characters in this book that I love. Finn. Holly. Dory Maud. All of them, really. Well, I hate Mutt with everything in me, and I'm still angry at Gabe, but I loved reading about all of them so much, even so.

"You leave nothing to assumption," Dory Maud says. "You swallow her
with your eyes. I'm surprised there's any of her left for the rest of us to see."

I'm not going to say much about this book. Because I can't. I just love it the most. The story is the most amazing. Reading about the killer water horses is so stunning and a bit terrifying too. I loved every second. The growing friendship between Puck and Sean is gorgeous. They are amazing people. I adore how Puck is poor, yet she isn't annoying poor. I just wanted to feed her and Finn. Sniffs. I love how Sean lives pretty badly, yet he never complains. I love how he just wanted to own Corr. Such a stunning story.

I say, "I will not be your weakness, Sean Kendrick."
Now he looks at me. He says, very softly, "It's late for that, Puck."

If you still haven't read this book I'm a bit angry with you. Because this is a must read one. And everyone needs to have read and loved it, like I have. This book means the most to me. And I'm so thrilled by how much I love it. Sniffs. It is simply the best. I would love to know what you all think of this one too, so please share below. I'm very much in love with my collection of copies of this one. A few personalized copies too. Yay. I just, I wish there were more fanart from this book. If you have any, please share :)

  5. This book comes so highly recommended! The funny thing is, I bought it for my sister several years ago (and she loved it), but I personally never read it. I definitely plan on snatching her copy and reading it! :)

    Lovely review, Carina!
