Waiting on Wednesday #135

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

TRIAL BY FIRE BY JOSEPHINE ANGELINI

Goodreads Description:

Love burns. Worlds collide. Magic reigns.

This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying many of the experiences that other teenagers take for granted...which is why she is determined to enjoy her first (and perhaps only) high-school party. But Lily's life never goes according to plan, and after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class Lily wishes she could just disappear.

Suddenly Lily is in a different Salem - one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruellest of all the Crucibles is Lillian . . . Lily's identical other self in this alternate universe. This new version of her world is terrifyingly sensual, and Lily is soon overwhelmed by new experiences.

Lily realizes that what makes her weak at home is exactly what makes her extraordinary in New Salem. It also puts her life in danger. Thrown into a world she doesn't understand, Lily is torn between responsibilities she can't hope to shoulder alone, and a love she never expected.

But how can Lily be the saviour of this world when she is literally her own worst enemy?

I'm still trying to decide if I think I will love this book or not. I'm conflicted. First, that cover is GORGEOUS. I love it. It's just so pretty and awesome. Sigh. So I cannot wait to own it, lol. But the summary sounds a little bit complicated for me. But it also sounds so interesting. Hmph. So I'm not sure. But I'm going to hope that I'll love it, cause I do want to enjoy it :D Unexpected love? Yes please.
What are you waiting for on this awesome wednesday?

  2. I did like Starcrossed by this author, despite some mixed feelings, though I think I might wait to see how this book is received first before I get too curious. The premise sounds pretty interesting though. And yes! I love that cover too! :)

  5. I haven't heard of this one? Is it part of a series? I also haven't had the chance to get started on Angelini's other books, but they have had some good hype around them too! I hope you get the chance to pick this one up and enjoy it!

  8. I am terrified to start this series, as she might introduce a love triangle in the 2nd book. :/ I wish she'd just let us know.

  9. Great choice! The cover is fantastic, and this is the first time I've heard of this actually O.O I do agree that the blurb sounds all over the place, like it's juggling too many at once. Hopefully the delivery will be exemplary to forgive that aspect :)
