Review: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

I am not ready to write this review. I am not. But I'm still going to :) I woke up this morning to an email from NetGalley telling me I had gotten accepted to read The Immortal Rules. And I was beyond happy! Knew I needed to read it right away. And I did. Started it at 8am, finished before 6pm. About 10 hours on 500 pages. Although I did have some breaks :)

And I'll start by saying that this book is amazing. Not that I expected it not to be. I love The Iron Fey books by Julie; although I still haven't read The Iron Knight (A) I'm a coward. But I will! Most definitely. I love Julie's way of writing, and her way of story telling. And this book sucked me in right away. And it didn't really want to let go, either. Was sad when it ended. But also happy; in a way.

Considering how much I loved this book. I'm having trouble finding words to describe how much I loved this book. How much it made me feel. It is heartbreaking at times, and it is so brutal often. But it also made me happy at times. It made me feel so much, and I can't wait to see what the next book will do to me :)

The plot in this book is beyond amazing. I loved her books about the Fey. While this book is about Vampires, it is just as good; if not better. Everything seems so real. It is set 60+ years in the future, and I love how the world is. How many dangerous creatures there are. It is cruel and such, but still so amazing. I really loved the way Julie created her vampires.

They reminds me about the vampires I've already read about before; in other books. But these are also different. First, vampires in this book kill. And they kill bloody. And I loved every minute of it! So happy it wasn't "played-down." I'm glad we got to see it all; even with how horrible it is.

But even though the vampires are killers in this book, they aren't all bad. Sure, they can be bad and become bad, but they don't have to be. They all have a choice. But not about the drinking; there is no choice there :) Which made me even more happy. Anyway; don't want to say too much. Just know that the vampires in this book is amazing :) Even though they aren't all good.

The characters in this book is really great. The main character, Allison or Allie, I really really loved. She is just amazing. Kind, strong, and smart. I loved everything about her. Well, except for her choice of friends in the beginning of the book. Didn't like those much. But I was still sad about what happened to them all. I think :D

Then she gets turned into a vampire. Don't want to spoil how she gets turned; because I kind of really liked that part ;) At first I feared that the guy who turned her, Kanin, would be a love interest. But he isn't :D And yeah. I'm really happy about that :) I liked him a lot, I think. He made some bad choices before, but I think he's made up for them. For the most part.

Then there is all the other characters. Like Zeke. Or Ezekiel. Who I loved so extremely much. He is the best character in this book. So extremely kind and sweet. But also strong. But yet still so broken. And my heart breaks for him so many times in this book. Especially in this one scene with Jeb that I will not spoil. Just know it is horrible, but I'm still glad it was there.. I love broken boys.

And it is not possible to not love Zeke. He is just too good not to love. The best love interest. <3 There is also so many other characters I really liked. Like little Caleb. And many characters I hated. Like Stick. Which I hope we'll get to see more of in book two ;) *Snickers.* And I hated Ruth. Didn't like her at all. Really happy about something that happend with her later on ;) Even though it is evil of me.

This book is just so damn good. Even though there is a lot of deaths in it. Brutal and violent ones. Some I loved, some I hated. But I'm still so glad they were all there; if that makes sense at all :p I also really loved the romance in this book. Wished it had been more; like I always do (A) But I did love what there was of romance :)

Just beware. The ending in this book is a little bad. But it ain't all that bad; and it made me want a sequel that much more. So there better be one soon! <3 I have no patience, you know. Hih :) Anyway, the plot in this book is amazing. As is the characters and the writing. I just loved everything about it.

So you really NEED to read this book when it comes out. You must. Because it is so good. And you will not regret it one bit. Promise. <3 Also; have you seen that gorgeous cover? ;)

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the chance to read this book early. <3
